TW: Swearing, mentions of suicide and self-harm, medical tech

-Ranboo POV-

I sit in an uncomfortable chair with Tommy by my side. I cradle my head in my hands and my eyes are fuzzy from the number of tears that have been shed from them as of late. I shake my head briefly trying to clear the cobwebs that rest against my brain.

On Tommy's other side sits Wilbur who looks dazed and confused, his hands resting in his lap in a worried knot. I try to swallow down some of my fear but can't seem to as we sit in a seemingly endless silence.

Tears prick my eyes again and I furiously blink them away not allowing myself to cry in front of people who knew Tubbo longer than I did. Tommy's father approaches us slowly as he returns from the bathroom.

"Hey, mates." He says rubbing his forehead "I'm going to the cafeteria to try and find some coffee. Any of you lot want anything?"

Tommy and Wilbur shake their heads but I stand up glancing at the floor.

"I'll go with you." I murmur "Just for a walk."

Phil gives me a tired smile and starts to turn towards reception asking them where the cafeteria is. They give him friendly smiles and a black-haired man points us toward a hallway. Phil thanks him quickly and strides off towards the hall with me in his wake. I grimace as my back pops. I had been sitting in the cold metal and leather of that chair for about two hours trying not to move. I tried not to move because I wanted this all to be a nightmare. I wanted to wake up and see that nothing had changed.

But clearly, that's not the case as Phil leads me into a wide depressing-looking room with a coffee bar right inside the door frame. I lean up against the rough metal of the frame and watch Phil prepare his coffee.

"Do you think he's going to make it?" I ask him in barely above a whisper.

"I sure hope so," Phil says straightening up "he's always been a good kid. Strong enough to make it through this I'm sure. He just needs to learn how to ask for help."

I nod and see a ghost of a smile flit across Phil's thin lips.

"He'll be fine mate, don't worry." He rests his hand on my shoulder.

We start to walk back to the waiting room and I notice that Phil grabbed a couple of waters while we were in the cafeteria they must have been by the coffee. He hands me one and walks towards the dejected Tommy and Wilbur. He hands them each one and receives small quiet thanks in return.

"Where's Techno?" Tommy asks a crease between his eyebrows.

"Cleaning up at home." Phil takes a sip of his coffee before he scrunches his nose up.

"Yeah, the water is not much better." Wilbur chuckles at Phil's expression.

"Fuck this," Phil mutters "I'm going to get some real coffee, Will?"

Wilbur nods standing up and they set off toward the entrance of the hospital. Tommy slumps back once they leave.

"You okay?" I ask softly.

"What do you think?" He says before sighing "sorry didn't mean to snap."

I shrug my shoulders and focus my gaze forward. I feel Tommy against my side and look down surprised before I see him with his head on my shoulder blinking sleepily. He yawns loudly before completely putting his weight on me. I smile as he slowly blinks his eyes shut into sleep. I lean my head back and gaze at the paintings across the room.

They are pictures of calm-looking meadows, nothing like the chaos in my head right now. I yawn as well and continue to stare off into the distance.

I feel a hand shaking my shoulder before groaning groggily. I sit up and stretch seeing Wilbur next to me and Tommy.

"Phil went home to check on Techno." He says "he will be back soon but the nurse just told me the doctors would be ready to see us soon."

I nod tiredly and see Tommy though awake still with his head on my shoulder. We look over to the swinging doors and see a pleasant-looking woman standing there.

"For Toby Smith." She calls out softly.

We all stand and she gives us a soft smile before asking us to follow her and leading us into a small plain room.

"Toby lost a lot of blood," she murmurs "we had to give him an emergency transfusion and he still doesn't have as much as we would like him to. He is being monitored very closely."

"Can we see him?" Wilbur asks quietly.

"Yes." She nods "But I have to warn you that he looks quite rough."

We follow her toward the emergency and extended care unit and taps lightly on a wooden door before pushing it open. There are a few nurses in the room but once they see us they exit quickly.

Tubbo is laying on an uncomfortable-looking bed. His eyes are closed softly and there are deep purple marks underneath his eyes. His skin is very pale and sweat beads on his forehead. There are many tubes connecting him to various machines and he looks like he's in a lot of pain. A heart monitor beeps slowly from somewhere inside the room.

I can see Tommy's eyes start to well up with years and I wrap my arm around his shoulder pulling him slightly closer to me.

"His heart is still moving a little slow for our liking." The doctor says.

Underneath Tubbo's eyelids, his eyes seem to flit back and forth as if he was having a bad dream. The room smells too clean and it's just a great expansive wall of white. Tommy and I sit down next to the bed and Tommy grabs Tubbo's hand making small circles on his palm.

"When will he wake up?" Wilbur asks

"We can't be sure that he ever will." The doctor responds grimly.
