(:-Tubbo POV-
Ranboos eyes widen as he gazes into mine and a smile lights up his face as he reaches over and squeezes my hand. Suddenly I hear the doctor saying something and Ranboo talking to her before she leaves the room and Tommy and Phil come in with a bunch of nurses.
"How do you feel, Tubs?" Tommy asks softly.
"I'm alright," I say my voice very scratchy from it jot being used in a long time.
Tommy grins and hugs me gently overjoyed. After a while they are asked to leave so the nurses can check my vitals and make sure I'm okay.
A nurse walks up to me and grabs my wrist inspecting or before placing it down and lifting the other.
"Lift your chin, please?" She says softly.
I do as she says and lift my chin tilting my head as she shines a light into my eyes. I glance up at her as her brow furrows.
"Your concussion seems to be receding." She murmurs.
Concussion? I think confused. What concussion? I think back before realizing I fell in the bathroom and probably bumped my head ok the way down. She smiles at me.
"You'll have to stay here for a little bit, before going to rehab."
"Why do I have to go to rehab?" I ask my voice almost disappearing.
"Oh, dear!" She explains "let me get you some water!"
She retreats before coming back with a small paper cup of water. She hands it to me and I thank her giving her a small smile.
"Well, it's because of your heart. We had to operate on it and we just need to know if your heart rate can escalate quickly without giving out or causing clotting."
I nod and give her another small smile.
"Can your friends see you?" She asks quietly.
I give her a thumbs up and she opens the door and they walk in. My eyes flit across all of them before settling on Ranboo. He looks the worst out of all of them, his hair has grown out and is out of place. His skin is very pale and his face has shadows all over it. His eyes are dull and his smile is dimmer than usual. I turn to Tommy and see him looking slightly worse for wear. His hair is slightly oily and he has bags under his eyes.
Phil's the only one who looks like he got any amount of sleep and I grin when he smiles at me.
"I was so worried Tubbo!" He exclaims.
He walks over to me and gently squeezes me being careful of the tubes and my heart.
"Ah, you know me," I smile "I can make it through anything."
He smiles and Tommy walks over to me before starting a loud conversation about women. He grins down at me the whole time and hugs me again.
"We have to head home." Phil grabs Tommy's hand and drags him out of the room.
Tommy trails behind him whining and flipping the doctor off. Before I can say anything she walks in.
"Tubbo!" She exclaims "I'm so glad to see you've made a full recovery."
I can feel the tension in the room as Ranboo stares her down.
"I hope you can go home in about a week." She continues "and then you'll be in rehab for maybe three weeks. You should be perfectly fine after this!"
She gives Ranboo a little wave before departing.
He's remained silent the whole time and starts at the doctor darkly as she leaves.
"Hey boo," I say turning my head toward him.
He looks over at me and his face softens into a smile.
"Hi Tubs, how are you really?"
"I'm tired and my neck hurts, my throat is all scratchy." I rasp out.
"I'll go get you some tea."
He leaves the room swiftly and I sigh looking back up at the ceiling I feel guilty. Guilty that I put him in this situation, he shouldn't be taking care of me when I made him so lonely.
I feel alight tears prick the back of my eyes and I clear my throat. A single tear rolls down my cheek and I hastily wipe it away.
I hear the door slide open and Ranboo carries a mug of tea in. I'm not sure where he got it, maybe the cafeteria. I smile at him and today accept it as he sits me up. I sip it carefully and thank him.
"What a British lad." Ranboo grins.
"Ah piss off." I flip him off.
He acts offended for a second before sitting down in the chair beside me.
"What time is it?" I ask him.
"A little after 7 pm."
"Really?" I ask.
"ReALlY?!" He mocks in a terrible British accent "Yes Tubbo, forgive me if I say your perception of time is a little off."
"Oh shut up."
I set my mug down on the table next to me and sigh happily.
"I'm sorry Ranboo."
"Why?"
"Because I was awful to you, I abandoned you. I didn't even say anything I just left with a note." I rub my eyes as I feel tears coming on "I made you miserable and you had to take care of the apartment. I'm so sorry I wrecked everything, didn't I?"
"No no, my love, you didn't wreck anything."
He stands up and walks over to my bed wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I scooch over clearing just enough space next to me so he could climb into the bed.
"Are you sure?"
I nod and he gingerly climbs into the bed making sure to be careful of all the tubes and such that are gathered around my arms.
"I missed you." He murmurs into my ear while hugging me.
This only makes the tears come faster as he wipes them away carefully. I lay down on my side facing him and joins me, carefully making sure his arms are still wrapped around me.
"I love you," I say cuddling into his chest as he cradles me.
The last thought I have before drifting off is just wishing these feelings weren't so unrequited.
