Another Hagfish swam down her throat coating it yet again in the disgusting Slime that covered them. Her body tried it's best to halt their progress, but without the muscles to close it, her mouth can't stop them from doing as they wished.
'Kill...me...kill...me...kill...me...'
Ironically, the thought of suicide is the only thing that kept her sane this long down here. She wishes something would finally destroy her cube, or that something would crush her skull and kill her brain activity, anything to escape this torment.
It was only a matter of time before it happened though, but she couldn't wait for it. She wanted to die, she needed to die and finally free herself from this torture.
She hated it...
She despised it...
...
What...did she even do wrong?
She saved her friends, she kept them from Siren hands...and she was tossed to the ocean like a useless toy. Why did they ever decide to do that?
It was obvious when she thought about it though, and that was because of her assaulting Bismarck. Hero or not, she attacked a superior, and with how corrupt the bastards at HQ were...
She knew all of this was her fault, but she couldn't shake that rage, that frustration, of being thrown to the water so readily by those bastards sitting in their Ivory towers. So what if she attacked Bismarck, she can be healed and sent back to the front lines in a matter of days, hell, she probably could have gone out and battled anyways with just a broken nose!
Maybe...maybe it's that rage that's keeping her alive so long. People say they've seen people become Demons in order to survive the worst moments of their lives, was this hers?
Was she...becoming a demon?
...
"She must have fallen somewhere down here!"
'What...'
"Eewww! I hate this stuff, it's so icky!"
'Voices...? But who...?'
Soon, she began to see light, small rays of it coming through the Brine that she came to know as her prison. They moved about in random directions, seemingly checking around for something in the depths.
Possibly, that thing was herself.
"Do we need to keep searching in these pools? I-I hate getting this slime on me..."
"Oh grow up Nautilus! It'll get washed out as we swim, now get searching so we can both get out of the depths!"
'N-Nautilus...?'
—
"Here, for you Nautilus." Iowa handed the little submarine an ice cream cone.
"...T-Thank you Miss Iowa."
She chuckled, patting her head. "I think I should be thanking you, for accompanying me today."
—
'So...they sent you down to find me?'
What a twist of fate. Once before, she helped Nautilus out of her worst, and it seems Nautilus is returning the favor.
"Okay...I'll check this one then." She dove down into the Brine, getting closer and closer to their target...
Iowa, if her facial muscles existed to be used anymore, would have smiled at finally seeing something other than slime, Hagfish, and Brine down this deep. Honestly, she would have taken anything over this ridiculous monotony.
