When I walked into the dinning room to grab breakfast, everyone was sat around the dinning table, but not like usual. They were sat around the table like they were having a meeting.

When I walked through the door it appeared that they had just finished as they dispersed and went to do their daily activities. Only the Greene family stayed inside.

I walked over to the table. Their faces looked tense.
"Did I miss breakfast?" I joked, trying to lighten them up.
"You could say that" Hershel replied softly.
Tish placed a plate of eggs in front of me, I nodded in thanks and began to dig in.

"Did you know that Rick is letting Randall go?" Maggie piped up.
I paused my eating, looking to her and her family.
"It's true, he said he'd let him go in the woods today. Do you know why he suddenly changed his mind?" Hershel asked.
"So he didn't kill Randall last night?"
Maggie shook her head.

I took a bite of my food, then leaned back in my chair and thought back to yesterday.
"His change of mind...is most likely because of Carl."
"Carl?" Hershel asked.
I nodded my head and leaned on the table, pushing my plate away from me.

"Last night, when Rick, Shane and Daryl had come to execute Randall, I heard some rustling behind the barn. I decided I'd check around before I left, just in case. Turns out, Carl had snuck out. He came down to the barn to watch the execution. Said he wanted to watch Randall die. That probably affected Rick." I explained.

Hershel's look softened in understanding, whilst the others seemed a bit anxious.
"I see, he wants to set a good example for his boy" Hershel spoke.
I nodded my head.
"Seems so."
"I don't blame him for changing his mind. A kid saying that.." Tish spoke up.
"But is it safe? Will he come back?" Maggie asked.
Hershel sighed.
"The best we can do is hope." He replied, reaching out and holding her hand.

I stood and leaned over the table, taking both Hershel's and Maggie's hand in mine.
"Even if he does, I'll protect both you and the farm....you're family."
Hershel gave a warm chuckle and tapped my hand.
"We consider you family too, y/n."

Trish got up to take my plate but I picked it up before she could.
"I'll do the dishes, you have a break for once."
She smiled and took Beth upstairs, mouthing me a thank you.
"I'm going to read in the study, call if you need anything" Hershel said, both Maggie and I nodded.

I gathered the families plates as Maggie leaned her head on her palm.
"Guess that just leaves us" She said.
"Lucky me, I get the bossy cowgirl all to myself" I joked, taking the dishes to the sink.
I heard her walk up behind me. She whispered in my ear.
"Well, I was going to help you, but if you don't want me around..." She teased and began to walk off.

I quickly turned around and hugged her, my hands around her waste.
"Noo. I meant, I would love your help. You're so angelic and sweet and-"
She took my arms off of her and twirled me around.
"Don't push it, city girl." She chuckled in my ear.
"Yes ma'am"

The day soon went by in a blur as I helped out around the house and farm. I was peacefully helping Hershel sort out medical supplies, when we heard yelling from outside.

Everyone gathered in the front yard to see a limping, bloodied up Shane. He was waving to the group and yelling. I couldn't tell what he was saying till he got a bit closer.
"Randall! He's gone! Son of a bitch jumped me and ran. He's armed! Stole my gun."

Everyone soon rushed around in panic. I told Hershel to go back inside and that I'd help the group look for Randall. I saw that Rick, Daryl, T-Dog and Glenn had already started to follow Shane back into the woods, guns, and crossbow, in hand.

Dale handed me his rifle, I slung it over my shoulder and rushed after the men, but someone had grabbed my arm, stopping me. I turned around to see Maggie, a worried look on her face.
