I was woken up to violent shaking and a weight on my chest. By the time I shook off my sleepiness, my head was dizzy anyway and I was still confused.
After I sat up, whoever was shaking me stopped and the weight slid off my chest and onto my lap. I took a moment to blink away my sleep and dizziness, and that's when I realised that it was Winter who was on me.
Once she saw that I was awake, a huge grin spread across her face and I smiled at her.
"You're finally up!"
I nodded and pinched her cheek.
"Thanks to you. Why are you waking me up so early?"
Maggie cleared her throat and it was then that I noticed her standing behind Winter with a stern look on her face.
"Are you forgetting something?"
"Noo-oh-"
I stopped myself as I remembered what today was.
"Oh...OH."
I looked to Winter and she wrote another note.
"Mama said you two have a surprise for me?"
I grinned and squished her cheeks.
"Yes, we do!"
"It's so surprising mama almost forgot it." Maggie jabbed with a smirk.
"I was half asleep, okay?"
"We agreed to get up early."
"Well who's fault is that? You tired me out-"
She gave me a warning look and I smiled, making her roll her eyes and smile.
"You're lucky you're cute."
Winter shook me some more and dragged me out of bed.
"Come on! Come on! I wanna see the suprise!"
I chuckled and followed her along.
"Okay, okay! I'm up!"Once we got out of bed, Winter dragged the pups to the door with her, Maggie and I following behind her, but she stopped when she noticed the curtain covering the door.
She turned to us and tilted her head with Cream in her arms.
"OMG..OMG, MAGS! CAMERA!"
I quickly and frantically searched through our things, throwing them all over the room.
"My jacket." Maggie sighed.
"Right!"I kissed her cheek and quickly took her jacket from the bedframe and got the camera out and snapped a picture of Winter before she moved.
I took the polaroid and shook it off, showing it to Maggie.
"Look how cute she is!"
Maggie nodded in approval.
"Our baby girl is the cutest."
"Especially with the pups."
"And even without!"
"Obviously."
Winter stomped her foot and I remembered she was waiting for us.
"Oh right, the curtain."
I looked to Maggie and she took the camera from me.
"You open it, I'll take the pic."
"Yes, ma'am."
I walked over to the curtain, ready to pull it down and looked to Winter.
"Ready?"
She frantically nodded her head as she squeezed Cream in her arms.
I looked to Coco and Cream.
"On the count of three, pups! One.."
Maggie chuckled, holding the camera up.
"Two.."
After a few seconds the pups howled, signalling three and I dropped the curtain. On the other side of the door was a brightly decorated cell block and everyone in our little group holding a little card, or popping a little streamer.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WINTER!"
I heard Maggie quickly snap a photo, then she came over to Winter and hugged her.
"Happy birthday, baby girl."
I grinned and joined them, squeezing the pups in with us.
"Happy birthday, Winnie!"
Maggie held the camera out in front us.
"Say cheese!"
Instead of saying cheese, both of us mouthed it, so Winter didn't feel left out and she snapped the photo.
Daryl grumbled and picked Winter up.
"Enough photos! I wanna show Winnie-pooh her present!"
I quickly snagged the camera and took another pic of Winter and Daryl, making him scoff and run away.
"PRESENT TIME!" He yelled.
"GET BACK HERE WITH MY CHILD, BEAR MAN!"
"NO! SHE'S MINE!"
"THAT'S KIDNAPPING! IT'S ILLEGAL!"I chased him all the way out into the courtyard, Winter giggling all the way.
When we got outside, the last of the sun was shining before winter truly started, and the courtyard actually looked pretty good, for two kids and Beth to be decorating it, I mean.
