A/N: I've rewritten this chapter as I didn't believe it made sense before and I just didn't like how I wrote it! So, you'll have double updates today! 🩷🩶🧡
When I woke up, I immediately realised I wasn't at the mall or Zoe's apartment...
The ceiling above me was dark, the room was messy and blood splatters covered walls. I didn't recognise this place at all. Where the hell was I?
I sat up, but regretted doing so, so fast. My head began to spin and ache something awful. When I reached to my head, I felt that the entire left side of my face was covered in bandages...
Then I remembered what had happened. My fingers...my eye...my wounds...the walker blood that had got into them...
I instantly looked to my arm, pulling up my sleeve, but my wound had been bandaged...
I couldn't tell if it was infected or not. I looked to my fingers and they had been bandaged too...
Had the others saved me? No, no..they can't have. They would have taken me to Zoe's, or back to the prison...
I scanned the room, trying to gather my bearings. I was on a bed, in a normal bedroom, well, minus the bloodstains and mess. My stuff was on the floor besides me, next to a chair. Even my bat was there. Only my knife and bandana were missing...
The room didn't really look lived in, it looked more like a temporary shelter. It wasn't organised or barricaded, it wasn't even lit up. The only light in the room came from the windows, so, whoever took me here, isn't staying here, at least not long term.
I was about to get up, when the door to the room opened. A short silhouette emerging from the doorway.
When they got closer, I noticed that it was a young girl. A teenager. She was carrying a basin of water, with a wet cloth inside, and some bandages.
She had dark hair. Raven black. It seemed messy and drenched in sweat. She was rather pale, almost ghostly looking, and her eyes didn't really help with that appearance, they appeared a bit dull. She wasn't too tall and was also quite skinny, making me believe she was malnourished, or at the very least, had been starving for a while.
She quietly walked into the room and sat beside me, on the chair next to the bed. She looked up to me and held out her hand.
I looked to her a bit confused.
"You want me to pay you?"
She let out a quiet grunt, then took my injured hand and began to unwrap my bandages.
It was silent for a moment as she unwrapped them. I thought about why she was alone, if she was alone. Was she the one who had saved me? But then I remembered that walker blood had gotten into my wounds...
I pulled my hand away, making her glare at me, which I must admit, was a little intimidating.
"Im sorry to...bother you, but, you're wasting your efforts. I'm infected."
Her glare turned into annoyance.
"You're not bitten." She said quietly. Her voice was very monotone and very quiet, barely above a whisper.
"No, walker blood got inside my wounds.."
She held her arm out, signaling for me to give my hand back to her.
"Blood doesn't infect you."
"How do you know?"
She grumbled and yanked my hand into hers, beginning to clean my stubs with the cloth, making me wince. She never looked up to me, the only time she did, was when she had glared.
"This is a waste of your-"
She made an annoyed huff and pressed the cloth onto my wound hard, making me hiss.
I was about to complain, but then she spoke.
"It's been three days."
"What?"
She grumbled like I had asked her the stupidest question ever.
"Three days since I've found you. You would've turned if it had infected you."
"It's been that long...?"
She didn't answer and instead started to place the new bandages on.
"Today is the fourth."
