The big horde of walkers went as far as the eye could see, it looked like they filled a whole field. I don't know where they had come from, but I had an idea of why they were here, all the shooting as of late must have attracted them to the farm. The shoot down just now, rang the dinner bell.

"We need to warn the others." Rick said sternly, trying to drag me back to the farm with more urgency. Carl tried to help him.

I pushed Rick off of me with my free hand and pointed to the farm.
"Leave me. Go warn them. They don't know."
Rick gave me a look full of worry.
"I can't just leave you. Not here, not now."
I shook my head and pushed him forward gently.
"I'll only slow you down, I'll be fine."
I looked to Carl. He looked terrified.
"You need to take Carl and find Lori. Get them off the farm."
Rick shook his head in desperation.
"What about you!?" Carl cried.

I tried bending down to his level, but it caused a sharp pain to go through my stomach. I felt the bullet move inside. I winced, and instead, opted to place my hand on Carl's shoulder, looking him in the eyes.

Carl and I had grown close since I came to the farm. Him and Sofia were like my little siblings. When I wasn't busy, I always made sure to play with them, trying to give them some semblance of normality. But things won't ever be normal...

"Carl. You need to go with your dad. Find your mom. Find Sofia."
He began to shake his head and cry.
"I'll be fine Carl. I promise."
I looked to Rick and nodded to the farm.
"Go"
"Are you sure? You're injured." He argued.

I looked over my shoulder, seeing the sea of walkers stumble closer, their groans growing ever louder.

"We don't have time for this. They're coming."
I pushed Carl into Rick's arms.
"I'll try and draw their attention a bit. Fire a few shots. Try and give you all some time to leave."
"No, that's too dangerous"
"Rick, you don't have a safer option right now."
I put my hand on his shoulder.
"I'll be fine"
Rick slowly nodded.
"Alright, alright. When it's safe, meet us by the highway, that's where we'll go. I'm sure you know where." Rick instructed.
"Sofia's sign?"
He nodded and began to walk off, Carl giving me one last hug before they left.
"See you on the highway" He called, running off, his voice sounded hoarse, like he didn't believe it.

I smiled at their backs, then looked to the heard, who was now only a few feet away from me. I cocked my rifle and fired at a walker, killing it, but attracting the rest.
"See you on the highway" I breathed.

I kept firing Dale's rifle and though I was only doing it for the hordes attention, I was careful not to waste a single bullet, slowly walking backwards into the woods as I did. With every shot I made sure to kill at least one walker. Did it thin the herd? Of course not. But I like to think it helped a little.

By the time I ran out of bullets, I had most of the hordes attention, only a few strayed off to the house, but as I heard gunshots fire from house, a few more turned their way. I cursed and began to yell at them to keep their attention.

"HEY! YOU UGLY FREAKS!"
I saw them turn to me and growl.
"Yeah, that's right! I'm talking to you, you ugly bastards."
A few more shots sounded from the farmhouse.
"NO! COME GET ME! I'M RIGHT HERE, COME ON!" I called, but only got a few walkers attention.
I clicked my tongue both in annoyance and pain, but then I remembered something.

The way I got out of the city. I had killed so many walkers that I got covered in blood. I was so drenched in their blood that I smelt disgusting, but the walkers didn't attack me, they thought I was one of their own. In the end, I used that trick and strolled right out of the city without having to kill another walker. However, I didn't need to blend in right now, but attract them. If they detected by smell, right now....I was the perfect bait.
