"The big lesson in life, baby, is never be scared of anyone or anything."Alexandria Wright
Today is a bad day.
Today marks elven years of my mom being gone. Days like these are when I wish the world would stop spinning. None of my siblings talk, especially on this day. We avoid each other.
But what we can't avoid is what is happening right now.
"Your father gave me specific instructions on what I am to do with everything he owned including who to give guardianship of the twins to." The lawyer pulled out a folder that had many papers in it.
Elizabeth, Cameron, and Oliver are on Facetime because they left earlier than expected.
"I will read exactly what the papers say and read who and what is left to whom." He looks up making sure we are all paying attention. He looks back down and starts reading. "To whom it may concern I have decided to leave my youngest daughter and son to my daughter," Nathan squeezes my hand. "Elizabeth Wright." I close my eyes in disappointment.
Today is a bad day.
"Wait, no." Violet's eyes fill with panic. "We don't want to go to Elizabeth, please is there some way to change it."
"I'm afraid not at this time Violet. I am sorry." He gives her a sympathetic look.
Violet doesn't stay to hear the rest, instead, she walks out of the room I believe so she won't disrupt what we are doing here. Hunter follows behind her.
The lawyer goes back to the paper. "I leave my estate to my daughter Alexandria Wright. My money will be divided between each of the children equally, this is nonnegotiable. Based on all the calculations each child will be given twenty-five million dollars. My business will also go to my daughter Alexandria Wright."
Before the lawyer could continue Elizabeth interrupts him. "Oh great, she gets everything good and I get the kids." Elizabeth scuffs.
Nathan's hand squeezes mine much harder this time I feel as tho blood circulation will be stopped if he goes even the slightest bit harder.
"I have multiple houses spread around the country. I have put each child's name under all the houses." The more the lawyer reads the more it sounds like my father had predicted his death. Like he knew he was going to die so he had made the decisions for us. "If they decide to sell these homes they will have to agree with the other siblings to make the mutual decision."
"What about our old house?" I finally speak. It was the house my mother lived in last. She had designed it all on her own with the help of a team my father hired to help her. "Who does that go to?"
"Alexandria Wright."
"Oh for the love of- What did you do Alex? Forge all this paperwork so you got everything?" I roll my eyes.
