"What the fuck was that?" He says the minute my little brother walks out of the kitchen.
"It's my fucking inheritance."

We all looked the same, but something was different. We were different. Growing up, even when our parents died, I still felt like we were a complete family. Yes, it hurt, but we had our siblings to lean on when times got tough. There was a noticeable gap missing from the group. After years of being together, everyone slowly disappeared from our home, only leaving the rooms we decorated as kids.
After the last note, I hadn't gotten any other messages from them, and time passed. As much as I wanted to find the person, I knew it best to keep my distance. I tried to keep all the skeletons in the closet for as long as possible.
"What are you thinking so hard about?" Harry walks up behind me, standing with his chest against my back. I lean against him slightly, feeling exhausted.
"Nate. There is something different about him. He's so much colder than the last time we saw him." I noticed it immediately when he made his presence known, and his smile was fake. He would use the smile when my dad wouldn't make it to his football games.
"Time changes, people." The sound of Bailey's voice comes through my ears, though it was Harry saying those words to me this time.
She had warned me about Violet, but I think she was watching the wrong twin. Nathan slowly started to decline as time went on. He didn't make it outwardly apparent, but you could see it in his eyes and smile.
A person's eyes can tell you a lot more than you realize. All you have to do is pay attention. The only time I would see him truly happy was when he was with Leah. Something happened between the two because she didn't come with him today. She would come every time he would so she could see Harry and their parents.
I nod, showing that I acknowledge his words. "I know. It makes me sad because he isn't talking to us about it. He doesn't even talk to Vi anymore. Has Leah told you anything about what happened between them?" I continued to rub the rest of the lotion on my palms.
"Kind of. She told me they had different ideas for their future and decided to end things. It also just might be that it is the one year since his big brother died." Harry lets go of me, picking up his toothbrush. "Also, it's different this time around. Hunter and I are living here full-time now." He puts toothpaste on his toothbrush.
He brings it to his teeth. "But he likes you and Hunter," I boost myself onto the counter, avoiding the small wet patch he made by putting water on the toothbrush. "I am probably being ridiculous, but I can't help it."
Harry holds his finger up, asking me to wait so he can spit. "It's not ridiculous you have been their mother figure since they were five." He begins brushing again.
