'Charlie's got some great ideas on how to keep you safe.' The head elf tells Scott as the three off us run down the stairs of the workshop, tention between Bernard and I growing. He hasn't spoken or looked at me since the day we got back. Maybe he regrets it, how am I supposed to work with him now that I've ruined our friendship. 'Santa, Noel, this is Quintin, head of research and development.' Bernard tells us as he points to a young elf in green with frizzy hair. 'Quintin, good to meet ya.' Scott chimes as he shakes his hand. I nod at him as a greeting before he shakes my hand. 'Hello, Santa, Noel.' The young elf said in a posh British accent. I open my eyes wide at the sudden accent change. 'Charlie and I have put our heads together.I think we've got a few suprises for you.' He continues pointing to Charlie.. I feel Bernard's eyes on me as I listen to the young elf.'This is some of the best stuff that's come out of the workshop since the ball.' Bernard say as Quintin rushes off to do some more work. I look at Charlie and notice he's up to something, fidiling with the sleigh. 'Fabulous.' Scott chimes as Bernard walks away, making sure to look back at me first with his glaring eyes. 'What happens if I fall of a roof?' Scott shouts at him, making me laugh. Scott turns to me and furrows his eyebrows. 'What are you laughing at?' He nods to me. I cover my mouth with my gloved hand and shake my head. We then walk in the direction Bernard had left in. Before I follow my now jolly uncle, I turn back to Charlie, who was still fidilinf with the sleigh, only this time he had a phone looking object in his hand.
'What are you up to, Sport?' I ask him, leaning on the edge of the sleigh. 'Calling mum, Elfy!' He giggles. Ever since I showed him my ears after we got here, he'd call me Elfy, or Points. Although I love my new look I always keep my beret on, remembering the first time I came to this magical place. I suddenly remember what he said and look up to him, sharply. 'What do you mean, 'Calling mum'' I quote. He turns to me and smiles before dialing in a number. 'I need to tell her I'm safe. It has been a few days after all.' He says with his smile. I just smile back, knowing that if my mum were around, I would've done the same thing. 'See you in a bit then.' I chime before turning around and heading to Scott and Bernard.
I walk over to Scott who is sitting on a chair, sitting in front of a red suit, but not his red suit. I notic Bernard standing behind him, his hands crossed in front of him. 'Fireplaces will no longer be a problem.' Bernard states as two over elves blow fire at the suit, making Scott lean further back in his chair. 'Woah.' I gasp as I get to him. I look up at Bernard who was now looking at me with his chocolate eyes, a faint smile growing on his face. I stand next to him and rest my hand on the back of Scott's chair, refocusing myself on the fire. Scott gasps at the flames before him. We watch as the suit starts to burn, producing smoke across our faces.
'It's a new fabric,' Quintin explains and he and Judy walk behind the suit once the fire was out. 'Completely flame retardant. It's light, yet durable.' He smiles. 'And you can wear the jumpsuit under your coat and pants.' Judy smiles as she points to the red suit, still smoking from the fire. I smile at how smart this idea was, however I knew Scott wouldn't understand. I watch as Bernard smiles at him. 'But what do I do if I fall off a roof?' Scott asks shaking his head. I let out a smile and giggle, making both Bernard and Scott look at me. 'Simple.' I say making my way in front of Scott's chair, the both of them watching my every move. 'Don't fall of the roof.' I smile, moking his gestures. This made Quintin, Judy and Bernard laugh, leaving Scott slightly annoyed. 'Let's get you in that suit, Santa.' Bernard smiles, uncrossing his arms.
Once Scott was in his new fireproof suit we parade down the corridor, dancing as we go, one foot in front of the other. I watch as Bernard pulls funny faces as he does it in time to me. He looks up at me and smiles before returning back to his serious face. I wonder why his mood keeps changing. We walk in procession outsode where the reindeer had been lined up ready with the sleigh. Charlie jumps in after giving me a tight hug.
'All right, let's go!' Scott shouts as he enters the sleigh along side Charlie. I walk up to him and smile, before passing him his hat and sack. 'You've got evrything right?' I ask looking around the sleigh. 'Yes.' Scott answers. 'Charlie, you strapped in?' I ask looking over at the young boy. 'Yep.' He says all jolly, holding his thumbs into the air. 'Scott, be careful.' I say as Scott sits down into his seat. 'If you need anything just let me know. Don't get hurt. Make sure Charlie's ok. Keep hold of the reins. Be careful of th-' I ramble on. 'Noel!' Scott inturups me. 'We are going to be fine.' He reasures me with his hand on my shoulder. I give him a quick kiss on the cheek. 'If anything happens to you ,Scott, I'm going to be alone. You're the only family I've got left.' I tell him with a worried expression on my face. Scott looks up to me a smiles. 'No I'm not.' He simply says before looking around at the surrounding elves. 'We've got a new family now.' I step away from the sleigh and give the two of them a small wave.
'You ready to go, Sport.' Scott asks Charlie as he puts his g;oves on. 'You betcha, Dad.' Charlie chimes as a response. He looks over to me and waves. 'See you, Noel.' He shouts before shouting at the head elf now next to me. 'Bye, Bernard.' I turn to see Bernard next to me. I swear he wasn't there a minute ago. Quintin comes and stands next to us, ready for the boys to leave. They give each other a smile before looking back at the sleigh.
'Now Dasher, now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen!' Scott shouts to the reindeer in front of him. 'On Comet, on Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!' Charlie finishes. 'HAH!' Scott leads the reindeer with one flick of the reins. As the sleigh starts to raise into the air, all the elves cheer. I look up at my leaving Uncle and cousin before cheering up at them.
'Bye Santa!' some of the elves shout as they zoom off into the air. I watch as they disappear into the night sky. The elves start to scatter, going back into the workshop. I return my focus to the leaving elves, I hear the same voice behind me. 'I'll meet you inside for a drink, Quintin.' The head elf says as I turn around. Quintin nods and pats him on the shoulder before walking off. I look over at Bernard seeing him looking around, his hands behind his back. I walk over to him. As he looks around he notices me and walks towards me. 'Bernard.' I say as I reach him. We stop a step away from one another. 'Noel, I..ugh.' He stutters before lifting his hands to his head. 'I can't talk right now.' He says as he walks off. I turn round in shock, a little hurt. 'Yes you can.' I say walking after him. He ignores me and carries on walking. His strides getting wider. 'Bernard!' I shout after him, grabbing the attention of the other elves. I watch as he slightly turns back as he continues walking.
I run after him, sliding pass an elf here and there. I finally reach him at his office, grabbing his arm gently. 'Bernard, we need to talk.' I sigh, looking up at him. 'Noel,' He whispers, looking around at the passing elves. Before anythink happens, he grabs my hand pulling me into his office, slamming the behind us.
