'So, what's up?' Scott asks, gesturing his hands out in front of him.
'Toy Santa's completely out of control!' Curtis blurts, not taking a single breath between each word. 'He's locked up the elves, shut down the workshop, he thinks everybody's naughty,' Scott looks to Noel with a wide eye as Curtis continues his quick rant. 'And he's gonna give the whole world coal!' Finally taking a breath, the elf stops.
'How come Bernard didn't tell me?'
The thought of Bernard stuck at the pole turns Noel's stomach. 'He's under house arrest.' Noel admits, holding herself around the torso. 'Bernard?' Scott questions, raising an eyebrow at the accusation. 'That's not like him.'
'Well, the Toy is not like you, Scott.' Noel rolls her eyes before sitting on the cushion covered couch in front of the open fire. Feeling the warmth travel her body, she turns round slightly to look over her shoulder at her uncle and the young elf. 'We need you to fly back with us to the North Pole.
'To save Christmas!' Curtis pleads, looking toward Scott. Resting his hands on the back of the couch to think, Scott looks down at Noel. A worried look upon his face. 'I can't.' He exhales. ' I have no magic. Look.' He shows Noel his watch made by Bernard. The dial at 0. Noel quivers at the sight, knowing this may be the only way out.
'I thought you had Comet.' Curtis knotts his eyebrows, making both uncle and niece look at each other in realisation.
The trio run out the room, through the kitchen and out the back door into the cold night. Comet lays on the snow covered ground, surrounded by sweet and chocolate wrappers.'Hey, Comet. We just..' Scott starts but notices his slump movements. 'Comet?
'Comet? Are you..' Noel looks at the reindeer in slight disappointment, realising he isn't any use to them. 'You've got to be joking.'
'Eating sugar is bad for you.' Scott shakes his head. Mumbling back to Scott, Comet lays his head back onto the ground with a groan. 'What do you mean you didn't eat this?'
Noel sideeyes Curtis as Scott continues to moan and groan at the flat out reindeer.
Noel's POV:
'Fire in the hole!' Scott shouts, running away from Comet at some speed. Pulling both Curtis and I away, Scott holds us close as Comet rumbles out a giant...
*PHFFFFFF*
'Whoa!' Scott chuckles as he waves his hand infront of us. Comet's scent travels up my nostrils burning them as it goes further and further. 'Oh my,' I gag, the malodorous scent fill my lungs.
'Eat some roughage, will you?' Scott chuckles, turning back to us elves. Curtis grows red as he holds his breath.
'I have an idea.' Scott chimes as I try to help Curtis back onto his feet as he falls from the impressive gas release. 'Why don't you just teleport us,'
Curtis and I look between each other, giving the same 'we need to tell him' look on our faces. 'Santa, we..' Curtis begin before side eye me, forcing me to look up into the air to avoid the eyes of my confused uncle. 'We can't do that, yet.'
Looking confused at us elves before him, Scott raises an eyebrow. 'What do you mean? Bernard can. Also I've seen over elves do it.'
'Scott.' I look up at him once again, the same rough, magicless feeling in my body. 'We're not old enough, right Curtis?''Exactly. When an elf reaches their 1000th year, they become a fully grown elf, like Bernard.' Curtis explains, brushing the small, delicate snowflakes from his long coat.
'So your telling me, your not there yet?' Scott asks Curtis, pointing between us.
'This is ridiculous!' Scott outburst. 'What are we meant to do? What am I supposed to do grow wings?' He chuckles, slapping his hand over his gawp mouth.
'You can't. But we know someone who can.' I grin as I grab Scott's arm and drag him into the warm, lit up house.
'More running?' Curtis groans as he storms up onto the decking behind us.———————————————————
'Let's just hope he doesn't have too many stops tonight.' I chuckle as I watch Curtis wrap a line of string around the door handle, while Scott ties the other end to one of his front teeth. Sitting slump beside me on the second to bottom stair, Scott turns his head, 'You and me both. Ok. Let's just get it other with.'
'Are you sure, Scott?' I check, resting my hand on his broad shoulder. Nodding his head to reassure me, he turns back to the young elf with wide eyes.
'Ok.'
'One..'
'Two..'
'Three!'
Curtis slams the door shut causing me to jump as I follow the now broken string to Scott's wide mouth, smacking him in the face.'What is going on down there?' A tired, yet confused Neal asks, leaning over the wooden bannister. 'Noel?' He squints his eyes to see if it really is me.
'Noel?' Laura appears beside him, also looking down. 'Noel!' She exclaims, pushing him aside and running down the stairs. Stepping over Scott she hugs me, making me step back slightly.
'Hey, Laura.' I smile into the unusually warm hug, sending the same warmth through my body. 'What are you doing here?' Laura asks, as she pulls away looking me up and down.
'Um.. there's been a .. slight problem.' I chuckle awkwardly as she looks to Curtis, who still stands at the door, eyes wide at the sight of Scott on the floor.
'Problem? What do you mean?'
'Well, Laura.' Scott pushes through as he gets up from the stairs, rubbing the back of his head lightly. 'The toy Santa I told you about has..''Taken over the North Pole.' Curtis butts in as he starts his way over to the adults and me. 'Who are you?' Neal asks as he walks slowly down the wooden stairs.
'Oh, sorry. I'm..' holding his hand out Curtis grows closer to them.'That's Curtis.' I steady him back before he can shake their hands. 'He's also an..'
'Elf?' Laura asks with a smile. The thought of another elf in her home makes her happy, especially as it is Christmas. I nod before going to ask another question.'Can we get back to this?' Scott asks as he pushes past Laura and I, in a grumpy humf.
'What is... this?' Neal asks, gesturing towards the piece of string hanging from Scott's opened mouth. Rolling my eyes, I walks over to Neal before sitting him down on the nearest wooden chair. 'We can't get back to the Pole because Scott's used all his magic up, Curtis broke the jet backs, we can't teleport and now we're trying to get the tooth fairy to come and get us but we can't do that until someone loses a tooth and that person's Scott!' Without taking a single breath, I feel my face growing red, as I try catch my breath, leaving the room silent for a moment.
'Ok...' Neal awkwardly chuckles as he looks around the room at the other confused adults. Curtis stands slumpt, his mouth gaping open.
A sudden chill travels through my body, the same sinking feeling overcoming me pulls me to the ground.'Noel!' Scott gasps, rushing over to assist.
Feeling my heavy eyes shut, I feel myself melts into Scott's arms as he grabs me. 'Noel?'
'Noel..' I can hear the others cry as the voices start to fade and everything grows dark.'NOEL..NOE..NO..N!'
