'Ok, everyone, can I get the room for a minute?' Curtis calls to the working elves in the mechanical workshop. One by one they leave, leaving Noel, Bernard, Scott and Curtis standing before a machine, taller than them. 'Can I just..? One minute.' Curtis waves the young workers out. 'Take a cocoa break.' Noel smiles as the youngest elf in the huddle walks by her, Bernard still in hand. 'Have a nice long break. Relax, everyone.'
'Thank you.' Curtis nods to the last elf as the doors shut behind him. Turning around to the confused Scott, Curtis smiles looking up at him. 'Walk with me.' He demands, walking off towards the side of the room. Scott, along with Noel and Bernard, scurry over to Number 2 watching as he makes his way over to the giant machine, centred in the room. 'I've tripled the RAM and reconfigured the circuitry.' Curtis explains as he searches his eyes up the lit machine.
'I see you've eternalised the power source to make better use of the electromagnetic energy.' Scott examines the build before him, looking closely at the brightly lit bulbs and struts of the machine. 'No, it's just there cos it looks really cool.' Curtis smiles, continuing to look up at the machine.
'Yeah, it does.' Scott mutters looking higher and closer.
Noel turns to Bernard, whose focus is stuck on the mechanical structure. Her smile continues at her interested boyfriend until it hits. 'Wait a minute.' Noel exhales in realisation. Catching the boy's attention they all turn and look at her, waiting for an answer. 'You tripled the RAM?' Noel asks, looking down at Curtis.
'I see where this is going.' Scott cuts in, his attention going back to Curtis, 'I am not getting in that machine.' He shouts, his mouth gaping open. Noel hardens her grip in Bernard's hand, making his tense up a little. Noticing, she loosens her grip. 'Sorry, B' She whispers.
'It's alright, Snowbell.' Bernard sighs, stroking his thumb across the back of her hand.
Turning their attention back to Scott and Curtis, Noel sighs, waiting for the decision Scott was about to make.
'Besides, creating a copy of Santa won't solve our problems.' Bernard claims, looking down at Curtis, 'Besides, it'll be a toy.'
'The elve'll know.' Noel sighs, letting go of Bernard's hand and resting it on her hip. Bernard folds his arms behind his back, in his signature position. 'But this would be a special toy!' Curtis tries to convince, waving his finger in front of him.
'How's that, Curtis?' Scott asks, his head lowering in the process.
'I added a fuzzy logic circuit.' Curtis starts before lowering his hands to rest in the sides of his trousers. 'The duplicate will look and think just like you. When you're with your family, dealing with Charlie and looking for a wife-'
'The toy Santa will be up here melting in front of my fireplace.' Scott butts in, disappointedly, his face full of sarcasm. 'No, the toy Santa will be dealing with business up here.' Curtis corrects Scott, pointing up at him.
'I can deal with business up here.' Bernard cut in, moving in front of Curtis and passed Noel. Turning back around to Noel, he smiles before returning his lips to a straight line. 'We can deal with business up here.' The head elf corrects himself before turning back to Scott. 'Santa, if the elves ever find out we've made a switch.. Ahhh' Bernard gasps, his hand reaching his cheeks, his eyebrows raised. 'No! No! No! This machine is not the answer!' He yells before turning back around to his now, trying not to laugh, girlfriend.
With a raise of his eyebrow Noel stops chuckling, lifting her hand up in front of her red blushed face, 'Sorry.' She bursts, 'It was the gasp.' Holding her hands over her face, Noel takes a breath and snuffles her nose.
Turning back around to Scott, the group notice a mouse making its way up the conveyor belt. 'Hey! Hey! Hey!' Curtis shouts at it before waving his hands about. 'You! You! Shoo!'
