Chapter 24 The Cathedral

2 Years Later...

Y/N POV:

I was with my wife and son. We were discussing an execution with Kotal.

Kotal: He escaped Outworld's justice and sucking dry the bounty of Outworld's people.

"Well, that is a death penalty. What do you think honey?"

Mileena: Agreed. It is time we cleaned up Father's work.

We then see red lighting and see Raiden.

Dark Raiden: Y/N.

"Raiden?"

Dark Raiden: We have a problem.

Raiden went on to explain how Lui Kang and Kitana are planning to invade Earthrealm. He took me, Mileena, and Cole to Earthrealm.

Cassie: We should open a dialogue. Maybe there's an explanation. Liu Kang and Katana were friends once.

Dark Raiden: They are irreparably polluted to Shinnok's evil. They are no longer the champions we once knew. We must strike preemptively.

BF/N: I agree we cannot allow another war with Outworld.

Raiden said he'll use Shinnok's amulet to buy the time we need to destroy the cathedral.

Cassie: If we get pin down there's no way out.

Dark Raiden: To ensure Earthrealm's survival, we all must be willing to sacrifice.

"That's the thing Raiden... You don't have family to lose."

Dark Raiden: Says the person who wanted to destroy Earthrealm.

"Don't you dare start this Raiden."

Mileena: That's enough. Let's destroy the cathedral and go home.

I nod and we gather the special forces, and we all go to Outworld, and we take cover. I handed my son binoculars and told him to look at the Outworld demons and tell him when they are coming.

"Be safe."

Cole: Should I be telling you that?

"Touche."

Me, Mileena, Cassie, Takeda, Kung Jin, Jacqui, Sonya, BF/N, and the special forces snuck to the cathedral.

Cassie: We're in position. Hope Raiden's planned one hell of a diversion.

We see Raiden teleport in front of the Oni demons and yell,

Raiden: Withdraw or feel the wrath of Earthrealm's protector!

The Oni paid no attention to his words, so Raiden lifted his hand into the air. Shinnok's amulet sparks even brighter as Raiden is surrounded from all sides. He makes no effort to move, and the first three Oni to step too close are blasted by the amulet's magic. They all disintegrated on the spot.

"That's the signal. Let's go."

We ran into the main gates, and we encountered more demons and we all started to kill them trying to make into the castle. Raiden killed the last Oni, and we made it into the castle and Cassie, Sonya and Jacqui lead us down a spiral staircase into the lower levels. Bodies long rotted to bones litter the ground they walk on. A partially opened doorway stands before the Special Forces. Sonya and Cassie wait on either side of the doors and look into the chamber ahead. Inside the room is a sight to behold; the decapitated head of Shinnok is held in place next to a wall by two skeleton hands. Behind the wall is a raging inferno. Sparks of red electricity emit from Shinnok's head frequently; the torture Raiden inflicted upon him still causing him constant pain. We heard demonic growls, and we hid. More Oni start walking into the room, and among these Oni are two recognizable revenants; the Black Dragon Kabal and the Edenian warrior Jade. They walk over to Shinnok's head.

Jade: Should Raiden get this far, eliminate him.

"I got these two. Go complete the mission."

I walked out of cover and saw Jade and Kabal clasp their hands together at Shinnok's head.

"So, is this a new thing you do?"

Jade: Y/N. A former revenant to Lord Shinnok.

"Jade, Kabal you both need to fight. I know you're in there."

Kabal: Answer me something... Who was it that had a hand in us being killed?

" A mistake that I've been trying to make up for."

???: Oh, really Y/N?

I turned and saw him... Quan Chi.

"Quan Chi?"

Quan Chi: Yes, it is I.

"Hanzo and Kuai Liang killed you!"

Quan Chi: I escaped. Now thanks to you Shinnok is dead.

"He deserved everything he had coming towards him!"

Jade and Kabal rushed me and started to fight the trio....

Milenna POV:

Sonya: Move! Charges on every column!

The Special Forces spread out into the basement, a dank and dark room flooded with more partial skeleton remains. Each soldier runs to a supporting column, taking out plastic explosives from their backpacks and attaching them to the columns. We finished putting them up and we armed them, and we ran out trying to find Y/N. We ran to Y/N spot and saw him fighting Jade, Kabal and Quan Chi. He was able to knock out Quan Chi and yelled for to grab him and we saw Stryker, Liu Kang, Katana, Kung Lao, Smoke, Nightwolf and Sindel coming towards us. We ran at them fighting them. We knocked them all out and Y/N said,

Y/N: Let's grab them and let's go!

Cassie: What!

Y/N: We have Quan Chi! We can bring them back to the land of the living!

Sonya: ......Grab them! We're moving out!

We grabbed them and the building began to explode, and we all ran out and escaped. Raiden looked and saw the revenants and we told him we could free them, and he nodded......
