What. The. Actual. Fuck. Just. Happened? You still couldn't comprehend what Hunter just said and did to you. Somehow, you let it happen and even worse, you didn't feel guilty about it. Somehow, you let it happen and even worse, you didn't feel guilty about it. You also had no reason to doubt anything he said but at the same time, Michael is the one who saved your life that night when he dove into the water after you. It was more about what happened after he pulled you out of the water that was the unresolved issue between the two. Yeah, it is finally time to tell you guys what really happened after getting pulled out of the water.

Flashback

Your body had already hit the water seconds before he did but those few seconds felt like a lifetime. As soon as his body made contact with the freezing water he swam to where he last saw your body before diving into the water to find you. Remember those seconds that felt like a lifetime? They felt like eternity as he swam through the freezing water until he finally got a grip on your body.

You were losing consciousness when you felt yourself being pulled to the surface but you'd already lost the last bit of your consciousness as it was replaced by water filling your lungs. He pulled himself onto the shore with your body in his arms as soon as he could stand. He felt like he was going to pass out from the overexertion but he persisted before dropping to his knees and attempting to evict the water in your lungs.

His hope dwindled as the moments passed without you waking up. Tears fell freely from his beautiful brown eyes as he continued to try and save you. Frustratedly, he started punching your chest with enough pressure that forced the water out of your lungs and you choked as he held you in his arms while you threw up the remaining water in your lungs.

He looked at you before he kissed your forehead and held you close to him. You opened your mouth to speak but it came out as a whisper. "I'm sorry Mikey. I was hurting and I didn't know what else to do."

Michael silenced you as he carries the both of you to his car and headed to his place for the night after getting your stuff from the cliff's edge. The car ride was silent but the pending conversation was not going to be a pleasant one whatsoever. Michael was just happy that he got to you in time and saved you. He couldn't bear to live in a world without you. Your breaths gave him the impression that you were asleep, it was understandable, all things considered but he still kept looking over at and checking that you were still alive. How could he not after that phone call and diving off a cliff to save your life. He was worried, terrified even but he knew that he had to find out what the hell happened for you to call him up at that hour of night and still cliff dive into freezing water.

Finally pulling into his driveway, he gave you a once over before switching the car off and moving to the passenger side and securing you in his arms, opening the door with ease. Closing the door with his foot, he made his way to his bedroom and laid you on the bed to look for dry and warm clothes before changing his direction and headed to the bathroom to run you a hot bath.

You woke up the moment he put you on his bed but didn't do or say anything because he'd just freak out over you. Rolling your eyes at the thought, you get up quietly and follow him to the bathroom and as he turns back to head back to his room, his guilt clouding his senses as he was shocked by your sudden presence behind him.

"Hey, uh, I don't know how to say this without sounding like an ass but I think you owe me an explanation," Michael said to you, feeling the dread creep up on him as his mind played that scene over and over, tormenting him beyond words. You sighed, looking up at him – he's 6'2 and you're definitely shorter than him – with tears in your eyes as you remember that one tragic night. "It all started when I was walking home from work and I didn't pay attention to my surroundings until I heard footsteps following me, so naturally, I ran. I ran as fast s my legs could carry me but it wasn't enough. The only reason I had to walk home was because Hunter couldn't pick me up and I didn't know who else to call so I just figured that I could make it but," your voice had already started shaking the moment you mentioned Hunter and violent sobs took over your body before you could finish telling him about that gut-wrenching incident.
