Aemond wasn't as upset about being king consort, but he did not display any of his enthusiasm. Eirlys seemed hesitant about it and he did not want to seem like some power-hungry prince by constantly ranting about how joyous he was about finally getting some more recognition and not being stuck as the 'second son'.

His mother was happy for him of course, at least her son would rule a peaceful and united realm.

Alicent along with Helaena and Daemon did not have any opposition with bending the knee to Eirlys.; she was kind and just. Rhaenyra knew they wouldn't be loyal to her but she was content in knowing that they would serve as close allies and friends to her daughter.

Both Eirlys and Aemond had made themselves present at the throne room, clad in red and gold. Aemond hadn't worn his eye patch that morning, he did not care anymore about the whispers.

Eirlys could sense that most of the lords who bent the knee had done so simply because she had taken Aemond as her husband. If she were stood there as an unmarried woman, the room might not have been as full as it were.

Once the ceremony was done with, they both left the throne room to attend to matters of their own.

Finding a suitable match for their daughter.

"Perhaps we ought to wait a bit longer until we chose a match for Lyra" Aemond told Eirlys "she is still only six"

"Weren't you the one who wanted her to be betrothed to Maelor?" Eirlys raised a brow.

"Well yes, but I didn't expect for us to engage them this early"

"You were engaged at two" Eirlys reminded with a chuckle "whilst I was merely a few months old"

"Well are you not happy with the man chosen as your betrothed?" Aemond grinned, knowing quiet well what the answer was.

"Now that you mentioned it" the princess sarcastically spoke "I think I fancied his sister a lot more than I did him"

Aemond chuckled at her response.

"We do have to pick a match for her" Eirlys brought him back to the topic at hand "when we take the place of king and queen and name Lyra our heir, there will be some unrest if she does not wed before her coronation"

"I'm aware" Aemond sighed "I do not want another war being fought with the intent of supplanting our daughter. But I do think we can wait a little longer until we find her a match"

Aemond had grown rather protective of his daughter and Eirlys found it almost adorable if it wasn't an important matter that needed to be taken care of.

"I've already gotten proposals from few of the lords who were present at court today" she told him "perhaps we could meet their sons, let Lyra spend some time with each of them in the godswood, chaperoned of course"

"I will chaperone them" he spoke, making no effort to mask how hesitant he was to let his little princess be in the company of someone he wasn't familiar with "I still think Maelor is a better option, but I shall let our daughter chose"

That farce of his did not last long.

Over the course of the next few months, Aemond had developed the tendency to scare away the boys he did not find worthy enough to wed his daughter. One small mistake and he would waltz in and steer Lyra away.

"It's feeding time for Vhagar perzys" Aemond interrupted Lyra's play date with one of lord Cregan's sons "would you like to bring your friend with us? Vhagar loves brunettes"

The boy seemed absolutely oblivious as to who or what Vhagar was until Lyra giggled at her father's words and told the young lord that Vhagar was his dragon.
