The Night That Changed Everything.

Days passed like a slow-moving stream, yet fate never allowed Mythili and Ram to cross paths again. Even without meeting, both carried a strange emptiness—a hollow ache in their chests, as if something was missing, something left unfinished.
Ram was drowning in work. The drug case had become a living nightmare. No clues, no leads, no informants brave enough to speak. It frustrated him to his core. Every passing day made him more restless, his temper fraying at the edges.
"Damn it...." he muttered, slamming a thick file shut. "Weeks of surveillance, and not even a single concrete lead?"
Meanwhile, Mythili was immersed in her studies, trying to drown out the memory of a certain forehead kiss with textbooks. Rahul had now become a permanent fixture in their group.
He never confessed his feelings, but his actions silently revealed them—the way he always saved her a seat, the way he brought her favorite snacks, and the way he looked at her when he thought she wasn't watching.
One afternoon, the three girls sat together for lunch. Sowmya, never one for subtlety, leaned forward with a smirk.
"Mythuuu..."
Mythu sighed dramatically. "Ayyo, don't drag my name like that, Sowmya. Just tell me—what's the matter?"
Sowmya's smirk widened. "What do you think about Rahul?"
Sandhya and Mythili looked at her—Sandhya with curiosity, and Mythili with a growing sense of dread. She already knew where this was going.
"Means?" Mythili asked, picking at her rice.
"'Means' mean... what is your opinion about him?" Sowmya pressed eagerly.
She shrugged. "Umm, he's a good guy. Very helpful."
"Good? That's it?" Sowmya raised her eyebrows. Sandhya leaned in, equally curious.
"Then what else do you want me to say?" She frowned, taking a bite of her food.
"Didn't you notice anything, Mythu?" Sowmya asked.
"Notice what? Just say it clearly." She said, her irritation rising.
"We think Rahul likes you. Like, really likes you."
Mythili leaned back in her chair, her expression unfazed. "And why do you think that? You both know me. I see him only as a good friend. Nothing more."
Sandhya spoke gently, "It's just... the way he looks at you, Mythu. It is very obvious to everyone except you."
She shook her head firmly. "Please don't talk about this again. He is a friend, and I want it to stay that way."
Her tone ended the discussion, but her friends exchanged worried glances. What if he confesses? He'll be heartbroken. They felt sorry for the guy, but they also knew Mythili's heart was like a fortress.
What they didn't know was that the fortress already had a tenant: DCP Ramachandra.
A soft sigh escaped Mythili's lips. Why am I thinking about him so much? Her feelings were growing—slowly, deeply, like roots taking hold in the dark. She hadn't even told her friends about the stirrings in her heart. I'll tell them later, she thought.
"Hey, guys!"
Rahul's voice broke her reverie as he joined them. "Hi..." all three greeted him.
"So serious faces? What are you discussing?" he asked, sitting right beside Mythu, closer than she would have liked.
