It had been ten days since Ram left for Bengaluru. For Mythili, every day felt longer than the last. The cheerful, vibrant version of herself had vanished, replaced by a quiet, brooding girl who barely spoke.

Rahul was everywhere. He stalked her through the corridors, pestered her with invitations to coffee and dinner, and cornered her the moment her friends were out of sight.

Sandhya and Sowmya did their best to shield her, constantly urging her to tell about this to Ram or Sravan.

But Mythili was stubborn. She convinced herself she could handle Rahul until he returned.

Deep down, however, a cold fear was taking root. She couldn't predict Rahul's next move. She didn't understand why he had changed; he had been a respectful friend throughout college.

His family was well-regarded, his parents were kind—so why was he acting like this? Was he doing this of his own will, or was he being forced?

She had no enemies, no reason for anyone to target her. The mystery made her retreat further into herself, speaking less and less to her parents.

Eventually, even Sandhya and Sowmya stopped pestering her to cheer up, exhausted by their own efforts to help.

Mythili sat in the living room, lost in thought as her friends prepared the dinner. She checked her phone—a habit now—hoping for a message that never came.

The last text from Ram was brief, sent the moment he landed:

"Hii maa. Reached. I may not be in touch, so don't worry. Take care. If I get free, I'll call you. Bye raa."

"Come, Mythu, let's eat," Sowmya called out, breaking the heavy silence.

They ate in a quiet that was far from comfortable. "Tomorrow, we're going shopping," Sowmya announced firmly. "I'm telling you now so you can't say no."

Mythili and Sandhya simply nodded. There were no late-night chats or movies anymore—just the dull routine of waiting.

Next day they went to shopping to buy the saree's and other accessories to go with saree.

Finally the day ended.

They were tired and retired to bed. Only two days left for the function.

Miles away in a dimly lit room, a phone vibrated on a cold metal table. A hand reached out to answer it.

"Is everything in place?" a raspy voice asked.

Rahul's voice trembled on the other end. "I... I can't do it. She's my friend. Please, leave my family out of this."

There was a chilling laugh from the other side. "You have forty-eight hours, Rahul. Either you bring her to the West Gate during the party, or you can pick up your parents' bodies from the morgue. Your choice."

The line went dead, leaving Rahul alone in the dark.

He wanted to give police complaint against them but they are way more influential and powerful than him.

They will destroy him and his family. Am sorry Mythili very sorry, he is crying thinking about it.
