The Orchard's Last Whisper and  Shattered Silence.

The road fell into a chilling silence. The lorry sped away, vanishing into the night, while the rowdy gang hovered ten meters back, watching the wreckage like predators. Their plan was cold and calculated: wait for the smoke to clear, open fire to finish Ram off, and disappear.

Inside the car, the air was thick with the smell of burning rubber and acrid smoke. One side of the vehicle—mythu's side—was completely crumpled against the massive trunk of the tree. The only thing that had saved them from instant death was the airbags, but shattered glass now pricked their skin like needles.

His eyes flickered open. It took a moment for the world to stop spinning, but as soon as it did, he lunged toward Mythili.

"Mythili..." he gasped, his voice barely a whisper.

She was unconscious, her head lolling to the side. The impact had mangled her door, and a jagged piece of metal had pierced her left arm. A trail of blood ran down from her forehead, staining her skin.

He reached out to touch her, his hands shaking. "Pitta... chudu maa..." (Little bird... look at me...) He felt a surge of raw terror. The fierce DCP was gone; in his place was a man terrified that his promise to protect her had just been shattered against a tree.

He tried to move, but his leg was pinned deep under the mangled dashboard. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed his thigh and wrenched his leg free with a guttural wince, blood immediately soaking through his trousers. He ignored the stinging pain; in that moment, his only world was Mythili.

He leaned over, his hands trembling as he gently tapped her face. "Mythili..." he whispered, his voice thick with desperation. "Kanna, kallu theruvu... chudu..." (Dear, open your eyes... look at me...)

"Iss... umm..." A faint moan escaped her as her eyes flickered open. Every inch of her body felt like it had been crushed.

"D..DCP sir..." she whispered, her vision a blurry, bloodied mess of Ram's face.

"We have to go. We can't stay here." he said, his voice sharp with urgency. He knew the goons were watching. She was still drifting, her head lolling as she struggled to stay awake.

"Ey... chudu! Don't you dare close your eyes!" He commanded. He delivered a heavy kick to her side of the door, which was already hanging by a thread. It gave way with a screech of twisted metal.

They stumbled out of the wreckage, clinging to each other just to stay upright. As the cool night air hit her, the fog in her mind cleared, and the reality of the dark road hit her.

"DCP sir..." she whispered, looking at him with wide, trembling eyes. She was frightened to her very core.

The silence of the night was shattered as the goons raised their weapons, the moonlight glinting off the barrels. Ram's eyes narrowed—he knew that look.

"Shit... parigettu! (Run!)" he hissed, grabbing her hand with a grip like iron. He pulled her off and into the jagged shadows of the roadside trees.

The forest erupted. Crack-crack-crack. Bullets bit into the bark around them as the goons gave chase. They were a mess; Ram's mangled leg felt like a lead weight dragging through the dirt, and Mythili's saree kept snagging on the brambles. Her left arm was a mask of red, and her legs were shaking so violently she could barely find her footing.
