The Mango Orchads Whispers...

The hum of the engine was the only sound breaking the silence of the car's cabin. It had been three hours since he had pulled away from the city, leaving behind the lights and the lingering adrenaline of the ice-cream parlor incident.

His hands gripped the steering wheel with a firm, steady pressure, his eyes focused on the road ahead, though his mind seemed miles away.

She sat beside him, her head leaning against the window as she watched the urban sprawl melt into the rustic charm of the countryside.

She had asked him a dozen times where they were going, but his answer was always a cryptic, playful whisper: "Wait, meri jaan (my life), that's a surprise."

She huffed for the umpteenth time, crossing her arms over her white saree. But as the scenery changed, her annoyance was replaced by pure wonder. The city's chaos—the noise, the pollution, the constant rush—was gone. In its place were endless green fields that seemed to breathe with the earth.

She saw white cranes taking flight over the paddies, their wings catching the last of the sun's orange rays. She saw shepherds moving slowly toward their homes, the bells around their cattle's necks tinkling softly in the dusky evening air.

And then there was the smell. The earthy, unique fragrance of the village—the scent of wet soil and wild grass—hit her like a warm welcome from nature itself. It was peaceful. It was perfect.

Finally, the car slowed and came to a stop.

"At last... have we reached?" She asked, her voice tinged with a mix of exhaustion and excitement.

He didn't say a word. He simply nodded, stepped out of the car, and walked around to her side. He opened the door with the gallantry of a prince, offering her his hand. As she hopped down and adjusted the pleats of her saree, the absolute silence of the surroundings enveloped her. The only sounds were the rhythmic chirping of hidden insects and the gentle rustle of leaves dancing in the wind.

"Where are we? It's so beautiful here." she whispered, her face lighting up with a full-blown smile that made his heart skip a beat. All the tiredness of the long drive evaporated instantly.

"Come, let's go." he said, his voice low and warm. He entwined his fingers with hers, leading her toward a thicket of trees.

As they stepped through the trees, She froze. Her hand flew to her mouth, her eyes widening in disbelief. Before her lay a scene straight out of a dream.

"Wow..." she whispered, the word barely escaping her lips.

She turned back to him, her eyes shimmering with tears of joy. In that moment, she couldn't contain herself. She broke away and ran to him, throwing her arms around his neck in a fierce bear hug.

"Thank you, thank you so much for taking me here!"

She was overwhelmed. This was the man who was usually defined by his uniform, his stern face, and his passionate, often fierce love. To see him plan something this delicate and beautiful was more than she could process.

"Did you like it, my little Pitta🐦 (Little bird)?" he asked, his chest rumbling against her.

"I loved it, Ram... it's so beautiful." she said, pulling back just enough to press a lingering kiss to his cheek. "How did you find this place, anyway?"

He shrugged, though his eyes betrayed his pride. "I found this place when I came to this village on some work. The people here welcomed me with so much love. I made some friends, and they were more than happy to help me set this up for you."
