White Saree, Warm Wishes and a Soulful Promise.

It was Saturday—Ram's birthday. It was also the day he had promised to take Mythili out for dinner.

On a cold winter morning, with the season finally beginning to fade, he lay in his bed, sleeping peacefully. He was completely exhausted, having spent the last two days buried in the final paperwork for the Janardhan case.

Downstairs, the house was filled with the fragrance of Dhup sticks as his mother performed a pooja for his well-being. She was busy preparing his favorite breakfast, while his father, now completely recovered from his injuries, sat at the table reading the newspaper.

"Good morning, Nanna." Roshini greeted her father, yawning as she leaned against his shoulder. She was still half-asleep.

"Good morning. Why did you wake up if you were still sleepy, beta?" her father asked, patting her head affectionately.

Radhika came out of the kitchen, overhearing them.

"Ah... ilaane gaarabam cheyyandhi. Podunne levaali ani cheppalsindhi poyi meere danni inka padukommani cheptara. Meere danni sagam chedagothunnarandi. Arey... lechi ammaki help cheyyamani cheppochu kada."

(Ah... keep spoiling her like this. Instead of telling her to wake up early, you're telling her to sleep more. You are ruining her! You could at least tell her to help me with the chores, but no...)

"Niku kullamma, naaku baaga nidra paduthundhi ani..." Roshini teased, sticking her tongue out. (You're just jealous because I get to sleep so well, Maa!)

"Radhika, don't scold her." Krishna said, hugging his daughter. Roshini beamed at her mother.

"Look at your son—today is his birthday and he hasn't even woken up yet. Go wake him up instead of taunting my daughter."

"Unlike your daughter, my son has been working hard day and night. He came home very late last night, so let him sleep." Radhika defended.

"Abbo... partiality! Look Nanna, how she supports Annaya!" Roshini narrowed her eyes playfully.

"No one here is scared of your 'angry' look." Radhika joked, raising her eyebrows.

"Radhikaaaa..." Krishna warned softly, laughing.

"Fine, fine... I'll go wake up Chandu." Radhika said, starting to get up.

"Ammaa... amma, aagu... aagu!" Roshini shouted, stopping her. (Mom, wait, wait!)

"What is it?"

"Don't wake him up yet. I have a surprise for him!" Roshini said, jumping excitedly.

Krishna and Radhika smiled at her childish enthusiasm. Maa inti Mahalakshmi, Radhika thought, watching her happy face. (The Lakshmi of our home.)

"What surprise, Roshini?" her father asked.

Ding-Dong...

"Yayy! The surprise is here!" Roshini dashed to the door.

She opened it to find Mythili standing there, smiling nervously.

"Waahhh... Vadhina, you look like an angel!" Roshini gasped, her hands on her cheeks.

Mythili was wearing the saree he had gifted her—a stunning, pure white-on-white ensemble.

"Thanks you." she smiled.
