A Father's Doubt, A Lover's Rage.
______๑♡๑______
Mythili sat in class, but for once, her mind was miles away...
Ever since her father's visit two days ago, she had been stuck in her own thoughts, struggling to figure out the hidden meaning behind his words and what he was trying to tell her.
Flashback:
On the evening of his visit, She was overjoyed to see her father. She greeted him with a tight hug, and he affectionately patted her head.
After a warm exchange about how they were both doing, She went to get him some water while her friends, Sowmya and Sandhya, chatted briefly with him about their studies.
Once She returned with the water, her friends excused themselves to their rooms, giving the father and daughter some much-needed privacy.
"So, tell me, Dad—what brings you here?" She asked.
Suresh(her dad) explained that his school management had sent him to the city to finalize some donation paperwork for school development.
When she asked if the work was finished, he confirmed it was.
An awkward silence stretched between them for a few minutes. Finally, he broke it by calling her by her full name: "Mythili...?"
The formal tone immediately made her heart sink. She looked at him, confused and worried, as he looked her in the eyes and asked point-blank: "Is there anything you are hiding from me?"
She was caught completely off guard. "W-what? Why are you asking that, Dad?" she stammered, nervously fidgeting with her dress.
Suresh watched her closely. Her pale face and shaking hands confirmed his fears. Having raised her for twenty years, he could read her like a book.
He felt a deep sadness, realizing the bridge of trust between them was beginning to crack; his little girl was officially grown up and keeping secrets.
He sighed heavily but forced a loving smile as he patted her head. "It's nothing, Ma. You've just sounded low on the phone lately—barely talking, always saying you're busy with assignments. I was just worried you were in some kind of trouble."
His concern brought tears in her eyes. She felt a wave of guilt for hiding the truth—the kidnapping attempt, the drama with Rahul, and most importantly, her relationship with the DCP.
She knew her parents had a right to know the truth, but she couldn't bring herself to burden them with the danger she was facing.
She realized she had to tell her parents about the DCP soon. She didn't want her father to find out on his own and feel betrayed by the freedom he had given her.
I'm sorry, Dad, she thought, I promise I'll tell you everything soon.
Wiping her eyes, she leaned her head on his shoulder. "It's nothing like that, Dad. I'm fine. Don't overthink it; I've just been swamped with college work. I would have told you if there was a real problem."
Her father looked at her seriously. "I just hope you open up to me soon, before this matter goes out of my hands."
She looked up, startled. "What?"
"Nothing." he replied, standing up to leave. "I should get going."
But she grabbed his hands, refusing to let him go yet. "Dad, stay for dinner. It'll be too late by the time you reach Warangal. No arguments!"
