27 - reunited

We all walk together to the middle of the pitch and start to warm-up with the rest of the team. We begin by passing in pairs, so I pair with my newly founded, girlfriend, and start to hit the ball back and forth to her.

After a few minutes of passing, she purposely plays a ball that I can't reach so I have to run and get it.

"Williamson, you should get that. It's your fault after all."
She tuts back "not in a game situation though."

I roll my eyes at her as she is obviously being stubborn today but go and get the ball from where its rolled to. She grins when I see my friends just outside of the pitch.

I stop dead in my tracks, looking between them and Leah.

"That's your surprise! Told you it was coming!"

I grin even harder and shout "thank you Leah! You're great."

Once I've processed what has happened, I sprint over to them and hug them all tightly. I cant lie, a few tears were shared.
Mostly by me, I'm a very emotional person.

"I missed you guys so much." I tell them.

"We missed you too!" They hum  back.

"I have to go back and train, but I'll catch up with you in a bit, tell me all the gossip and I'll tell you what's happened with me over the week."

I run back off to finish training with the team, for a good solid 3 hours with small breaks in between, before its time for lunch with my friends and I honestly had a greater time at training, knowing that my friends were just on the sidelines watching me. Occasionally, I would give them a small wave but not do so much I was distracted by them.

At lunch, I meet up with them, steering well away from Leah, knowing they would say something to her that would embarrass me in-front of her and cause her to break up with me.

We all catch up on what has happened recently and how life was going, obviously not telling them about mine and Leah's relationship (they can't be trusted with that information, or anything really).

Before long, they had to head off back home so they could get to school the next day.

I walk over to Beth, Viv and Leah who are all sitting together at a table, in a deep conversation, so I interrupt and ask "what we talking about?"

I was obviously trying to be nosy but also lighten the mood a bit.

Leah doesn't say anything, but just walks off clearly upset with something.

"Leah. What's wrong?"

She just keeps walking away, not turning back to see me trying to get her to talk to me.

I turn to Beth and Viv "what happened to Leah?" I ask concerned.

They just shrug and reply "we don't know, she just came over here upset, and now you're here."

I am worried, something has happened to her and shes not telling me, she should tell me, im here for her as her girlfriend.

"Ok, I'm gonna go and find her. Maybe try and see what's up with her."

I run off in a panic trying to find her everywhere. In the bathroom?

No.

In the changing room?

No.

In the laundry room?

No.

Where the fuck is she?!

Not in the gym.

Not in the parking lot.

Not in the pool.

Not in the recovery room.

Not in medical.

I run onto the pitch, which is the last place she could be, and I see her.
Shooting the ball into the goal, with such force, she could send it to the sun. I sprint even faster over to her, my eyes watering , feeling guilty for doing something to her, even though I haven't done anything.

"Leah!" I shout at her.
"Leah! Please answer me. I've been looking for you everywhere! I'm worried."

She looks at me. Her eyes glossy from tears. Somehow, I feel guilty, as if I was the one who's done this to her.

She answers me "what did you even want from me anyway? Was it just a small distraction? You just wanted to use me? You're embarrassed to be seen with me? That's why you've been avoiding me all day? What?!"

I reply, on the verge of tears, "Leah, I-I don't know what you're on about. I wasn't avoiding you. I was spending time with my friends and it seemed like you wanted nothing to do with me.
Every time I looked at you, I smiled, waved. But what did you do?
Oh, that's right, you looked away, ashamed of me. What put you like this?!"

Silence.

"Well??" I say clearly pissed off.
She looks down at the floor, still not replying.

I continue "you know," she looks up at me "I thought, I was gonna be kind today, let you win that bet because I had a wonderful surprise for you that I thought you would like.
Unbelievable.
I cant believe, I let myself fall for someone like you, someone who was already way out of my league, believing that she actually liked me. That's my fault, for falling for you, not how you led me on this whole time, that's on you.
You knew that I liked you, you knew how to play with my feelings, you let me believe we could actually be something. Now that's not going to happen! I cant fucking believe it!"

I paused for a moment to collect myself. I waited for a reply which never seemed to appear.

I was so full of rage that I belted out "I had sex with you Leah!"
A tear trickled down my left cheek, "I had fucking sex with you!
I don't just go around sleeping with everyone I meet you know!
You were special!
I loved you, and I thought you did too! But obviously I was wrong." I throw my hands up in frustration.

I wipe the tears from my eyes and begin to walk away.
