39 - bored

I rest my hand on top of hers, my fingers laying in-between the gaps of hers.

I stare at that for a while before looking out the window for a few more minutes when I blurt out.

"Im bored, Le."

I look at her, all concentrated on driving and hot, "can I play on your phone?" I ask her sweetly, hoping she would give in.

She looks at me, out of the corner of her eye, looking at her with a cute little smile spread across my face.

She huffs "what about your phone?"

I sheepishly smile "I... left it... at home." I pause, looking for her reaction "by accident" I lie.

I definitely didn't leave it at home and even if I did, it wouldn't be an accident either.

She hands her phone over to me, not in the right mind for an argument while driving.

I, of course, used that to my advantage to get my way.

I mean, how could you say no to me?

I clap my hands, happy that I worked my charm on her just enough.

"Passcode?" I more demand than ask her for.

"My birthday" she sighs, but then smiles as she sees how happy shes made me.

Just her phone bringing so much happiness to me.

"Yay! Thank you Le. I love you." I beam to her.

I begin to play on her phone, going onto Instagram and adding a picture of her driving to her story with the caption "don't let Jessy steal your phone. You will regret it!"

I chuckle to myself at my crafty work, sounding slightly evil, but that didn't bother me.

I then go onto TikTok and watch 3 or so videos, when her mum texts her.

"Le, your mum text" I smile at her.

"What does it say?" She questions.

I check the message, reading it briefly and giving her a short overview of what she said.

I tell her with a scrunched face "um- she just asked you if you wanted to stay the night on Wednesday."

She rubs my thigh, up and down, trying to reassure my worries "up to you, my love. We have a late start on Thursday, so I don't mind. My mum's really lovely and im sure she'll love you. She will definitely love having you over for the night too. And she makes the best bacon and eggs."

I look out the window, then back at her and reply "sure, I guess, but I mean, I haven't ever met your mum before and im so awkward with new people. She probably doesn't even want me staying over, but like if she wants to I can."

I try and persuade myself as I know how much it would mean to Leah, for me to get on with her mum.

"Okay then, why don't you tell her exactly that," she whispers sweetly, almost happy that I will be there.
"Tell her 'that I spoke to you and you said that it would be fine but you're a bit nervous to meet her because you've never met before. Oh- and tell her not to ask a lot of questions." Leah tells me, adding that last bit knowing her mum would bombard me with questions.

"Leah, I honestly don't mind if she asks me questions." I try to explain, to not be hard.

"No, no, tell her, she will still ask loads of questions. Just not as many as she usually does. Oh yeah- and be prepared to be the favourite." Leah chuckles.

I type out what Leah told me to and sent it to her mum in reply to her previous message.

Hey Pumpkin, I was just wondering if you and Jess would like to spend the night with me on Wednesday since it's quite a long drive for you just to be up here for just a couple hours. You don't have to of course but I was just asking. xx

Hi mumma, yeah I just spoke to Jess and she said it would be fine to stay over but since you two have never met she's a bit nervous
please be nice to her mum and don't ask her too many questions.
Love you xx

10 minutes later we arrive at the beach, im not sure which beach it is but its lovely here.

The waves are calm, the beach is sandy and there's not many people here.

I gasp "Leah! The beach! Look, Leah! It's the beach! I love the beach!"

She just smiles and shakes her head as she only realises now, how excited I am by the simplest of things.

I mean, it is the beach so I don't know what she expected.

She finds a parking space and parks up quickly, to which I jump out of the car like lightning.

I skip to the front of the car, clapping my hands in joy, waiting for Leah to move her slow old ass out the car and over to me.
