"Come on..." Leah begs as she tries to hurry me up out the door, picking up both our bags in the process.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming." I drag along, taking as long as possible.

As I drag my feet along the floor Leah runs out the door to put the bags in the car and runs back inside to get to me. She sweeps me off my feet and carries me over her shoulder, all the way out the door and into the passenger side of the car.

"Leah! Put me down!" I squeal, giggling at how eager she is to see her mum.

"No. You're taking too long." She tells me, smirking as she places me in my seat.

"You are so annoying." I joke, trying to remain serious but failing as her face is too cute to be cross at.

She jumps into the drivers side of the car and begins to drive away from our house.

"Wait!" I shout, making Leah slam on the breaks.

"What?" Leah sighs, wanting to just leave as she has been ready 3 hours ago but me making it harder for her to leave just as quick.

"I forgot my charger." I sheepishly tell her, looking down at the floor, trying to prolong the time meeting her mum.

She rolls her eyes at me, then begins to drive again, "mums got spares."

"Okay." I smile at her, "thank you."

"Yeah, just wish you'd be more organised." She sighs again, looking out the rear-view mirror.

"Sorry. I love you." I try to apologise, making it seem better by making sure she still loves me.

"It's okay. I love you too." She smiles, keeping her eyes firmly on the road but taking a second to look at me, softening her hard face, before darting back to the road again.

As we approach Leah's mums house, I start to get really nervous about meeting her. I've never got to the meeting parents stage in a relationship before so this is all brand new to me.

"Leah... have you... told your parents about... us?" I ask insecure, not wanting to make a bad impression on them.

"Yes. And they love you. So so much from what I've told them and what they've seen. They love you, so don't worry about not impressing them because you already have." She reassures me, wanting me to be 100% comfortable in meeting them.

"So um- they'll be fine with... me?" I ask, wanting to make sure they know who I am before I meet them.

"Yes, yes. Now stop worrying, it's my family. There's nothing to be worried about, but if there is, I'll protect you." She tells me, pecking my lips quickly before getting out the car and grabbing our bags.

"Okay," I reply to her with a smile before trying to take my bag from her, but she doesn't let me, "Leah, let me take my bag. I don't want them to think I'm making you carry my bag for me."

"Nope. Im taking it. I want to." She grins, knowing I won't argue with her in-front of her parents house and making it nearly impossible to grab them from her by holding them just out my reach.

"Prick." I mutter, walking slowly behind Leah to make sure I don't greet them at the door first. Im so awkward I think they'd turn me away, rather, I'd turn myself away at how embarrassed i would be.

Leah just laughs to herself at me but walks to the door with a massive smile on her face. She dumps the bags on the floor of the step and reaches her hand out to knock on the door but she is stopped when the door flings open.

"Leah! I've missed you bubs." Leah's mum smiles, embracing Leah into the tightest most loving hug I've ever witnessed between mother and daughter.

Amanda looks over Leah's shoulder with a massive grin, to me standing awkwardly behind, not knowing what to do with myself.

She brings herself out the hug with Leah and approaches me.

Stay calm.

Nothings gonna happen.

She's just going to welcome you in.

No!

Don't sweat you twat.

That's embarrassing.

Stop it!

"Hello. You must be Jessica. I've heard so much about you. Leah really doesn't stop it." Amanda says, bringing me into a hug which I take a minute to return as I am so overwhelmed by this motherly love.

"Hi Mrs Williamson. Sorry for your eardrums. Leah does tend to speak, a lot." I slightly chuckle, wanting to make the best impression in-front of Leah's mum.

"Yes. She is a bit of a handful sometimes. Surprised you put up with her." Amanda laughs back, "and don't call me Mrs Williamson. Please, call me Amanda."

I just nod and let Leah do the talking for now.

"Okay mum, we are just going to put our stuff in my room then we'll come back down." Leah tells her mum. I'm thankful she managed to get me out of this so quickly because I was really starting to panic if I did a good enough job.

"Okay bubba, just come down when you're done and then we will go to the bowling place for a bit." Amanda tells Leah as we both walk up the stairs. Leah in front as I don't know where I am going.
