It took about two days to get to Iowa, and I ended up driving all 1,090 miles. It was nice to be able to just turn my mind off as I drove, and I was able to collect my thoughts a little bit whereas I would probably still be a mess if I just teleported to Clint's doorstep.

The farther I drove, the colder it got outside, snow covering every inch of the older Ford truck Tony for some reason had in his garage. Thankfully because of its large size, I didn't have much of a problem with the snowy roads.

I let out a small sigh, seeing the sun-stained white house with the ugly green roof, the ridiculously old barn a little ways away. I pulled up behind Clint's rusted truck, parked Starks car and got out, grabbing my duffle bag from the back seat.

"Aunty Alex!" Lila's voice yelled through the now open front door, her small legs running down the steps and through the snow as she jumped into my open arms.

"Hey, kiddo! What are you doing out here without a coat? It's freezing!" I chuckled, carrying her inside.

"Mom! Aunt Alex is here!" Lila yelled out as I closed the door, squirming out of my arms to run into the kitchen.

"Alex?! What are you doing here, sweetheart?" I heard Laura's voice yell, the woman herself popping out from around the corner and walking over to give me a hug.

"Um, I just... had a little problem. Kinda wanted to talk to Clint about it." I nervously shrugged, playing with the strap of my bag.

"Is everything alright?" The brunette furrowed her eyebrows.

"I think so. I just, need someone else to hear what happened and reassure me that I'm not completely losing my mind."

"Well, I don't know if Clint will be able to help with that, so I'm always here if you want another ear. He's in the barn with Cooper right now teaching him how to use the snowplow. You can put your stuff in the guest room and go down there if you want, or you can stay here in the nice warm house and help me and Lila make dinner. We're making meatloaf."

I chuckled, knowing that that was Laura's way of saying "You have no choice, you're staying here with me and Lila."

"Alright. I'm gonna bring this to the room and wash up a bit and then I'll be back down." I nodded, messing up Lila's hair before making my way up to the guest room.

I threw my bag down beside the queen-sized bed, going into the connected bathroom and pulled out some towels from under the sink. After a quick shower, I changed into some clean clothes, dried my hair, and went back downstairs.

"Sorry, took a little longer than I planned," I said to Laura as she put the meatloaf in the oven.

"Don't worry about it, hun. If you can just set the table for me that would be great." She smiled at me.

I quickly did as the woman said, already knowing where everything was in the house.

"So, how's everything going? You enjoying having Clint around more to help out?"

"Oh yeah. If you call helping out wanting to do severe work on every room in the house." She chuckled.

"Honey! Is someone here?!" A deeper voice came from behind me. I turned around, seeing Clint kicking snow off his boots, Cooper right behind him copying his action.

"No one special. Just your favorite SHIELD agent," I smirked, walking into view.

"Aunt Alex!" Cooper yelled, rushing past his dad and over to me, hugging my waist.

"Hey, buddy! Oh my gods, you're getting bigger every time I see you!" I smiled.

"Cooper, you're letting snow in! Go put your boots at the door." Laura lightly scolded.
