Maxx called around eleven in the morning on the 26th. He said he wanted to meet up with Heavenly and talk, so they went out to get coffee at their favorite coffee shop near the faculty. Both were nervous wrecks, palms sweating, hands shaky, they didn't know what to expect of the other. Heavenly was scared what the talk could be about, imagining the worst-case scenario after rewinding his picture with that blonde girl. On the other hand, Maxx was shaken thinking that her and Jordan had stayed alone together in an apartment for two nights.
"Uh-hm. " Heavenly's boyfriend cleared his throat before beginning to speak. "So, I just wanted to see you. I wanted us to talk about that fight. "
He sighed heavily and looked at her across the table. She was quiet, wanting to hear him out first and then to say her own words.
"First of all, " Maxx bit his lip."I wanted to apologize once again for canceling our plans at the last moment. It just happened that my mother called some cousins over that I don't see quite often and begged me to come for family dinner. True, I could have invited you to come with me, but I just thought that it would be a bug to you and that it's too soon to meet parents and a bunch of relatives since we've only been going out for a month, especially because too many relatives would be there. It's not that I'm hiding you, don't look at me with that disappointing face, I just thought I'd leave that for later, when we are going out for a longer period of time. That's the first thing I wanted to say. "
Heavenly played with her fingers. Waitress dressed in a brown apron and white clothes brought them what they ordered. "Thank you. " Heaven said to her and smiled quick, before proceeding to talk to Maxx.
"I understand that part. " she said, looking at him. "I just don't get the part where you yell at me, hang up and then not talk to me for three days, and those days being holidays. " Her voice shook a little.
Maxx got frustrated and leaned closer to the table, extending his hand and grabbing hers on the table. Her heart skipped. They looked at each other intensively. "I'm sorry. I've just been too conscious of Jordan Parker ever since we started going out, since the talk about kissing, and then the fact that you're neighbors and the first time I met him it was at your place, him being in underwear... It just gets to me. Now, you both stayed together alone for Christmas... I just, after deciding not to invite you to my family house and hearing that he offered to stay with you, I regretted my decision. I didn't want you to stay with him. It somehow felt like he is closer to you than I am, and that bothered me, frustrated me and got me to act impulsively rather than have a normal conversation. "
She could understand that, really, but didn't see the problem because her and Joe have known each other their whole lives. Heavenly's heart calmed and she thought of what to reply to him, since he put his heart out like that.
"First of all, for the hundredth time this month, Jordan and I are just friends. " she sipped her coffee. The warmth of it felt nice. "Second, I see you had the time to reflect upon your decisions hanging out with that blonde girl back for Christmas. " Heavenly couldn't resist to say it, but when she said it out loud, it felt somehow embarrassing.
Maxx's eyes went wide first, from surprise, then he narrowed his eyebrows. "What girl? Oh, you mean Gina? Don't tell me that bothered you. " he covered his mouth with a hand to hide his smile at her reaction.
Heavenly huffed and pulled back. "Well, you haven't called me at all but had the time to post stories with her,.. and a bunch of other people. "
Maxx chuckled. "Okay. So, let me explain. Gina is my cousin Braxton's long-term girlfriend. They've been going out for five years now, so she has met the whole family. That's why she was with us. They are practically engaged. "
