HEAVENLY'S POV

The doorbell echoed through the house, and as the morning sun cast its glow upon the porch, my mother opened the door, a mix of surprise and delight etched on her face.

"Heavenly, sweetheart! I didn't know you were gonna come!" Mom's voice rang out, full of warmth, as she pulled me into a tight embrace. "What brings you home so early?"

Her joy was palpable, but my mind was preoccupied, my heart weighed down by the impending conversation. I murmured sterilized words about needing to talk and the trip, my thoughts consumed by the weight of what I had to say.

We entered the house, and the comforting aroma of fresh coffee filled the air. Mom busied herself with preparations, chatting animatedly about mundane things, while I remained lost in my thoughts.

Finally, I gathered the courage to speak up. "Mom, I need to tell you something important," I murmured, my voice faltering.

Her expression shifted, concern clouding her features. "What is it? Is everything okay?"

"I saw Dad," I blurted out, watching as surprise flickered across her face. "In Wildwood. He said something about us living together. Is it true?"

There was a moment of silence that seemed to stretch on forever. Her hesitation spoke volumes, confirming what I feared. "It's true," she finally responded, her voice heavy with a burden I couldn't fathom.

The weight of her confirmation hit me like a ton of bricks. Emotions swirled within me - confusion, anger, hurt, and an unsettling heaviness that settled in my chest. I struggled to process the reality of my father's sudden reappearance in our lives and the implications it held for our family. Before I get to open my mouth she keeps talking, "I was gonna talk to you about it but your stay last time was short and I never found the time.. ", she pauses and looks away, sighing, "Actually, that's a lie. I didn't have the courage. I was anxious of how you're gonna react. "

My lips quiver, "So you thought it was better for me to find out this way? "

"No, I.. I didn't even think of you two meeting, " she tells me with a serious tone, "There were such low chances for that to happen. I'm sorry. "

"You're accepting him back?", I fume, playing with my fingers to calm the nerves, "After all these years? Are you that blind?"

"It's not as simple as you think it is, " Mom's soothing voice tries to speak to me. She gets to her feet, "I have to start getting ready for my work but I'll explain everything to you later this day. "

"Why can't you say it now? I am tired of always having to wait for people to be honest with me, " I look away and sigh.

What am I missing in the story? Actually, I am missing everything. I don't even know the exact reason father left. All I know is he left my mother to struggle alone but that was enough for me.

She apologizes and says she has to hurry and I let her without further delay. I wouldn't want her to be late for work because of me. So, she goes away and I am left in the solitude of my home to further explore the depth of my despise for Aidan Brooks.

I decide to clean the house a bit while mom is gone. It's a simple one-floor home but it gets dusty quick when only one person is mainitaining it. I don't understand mom's point of view but I'll do everything I can to help her live a nice and less burdened life no matter what she decides. I just can't believe that I, her daughter of ninety years old, have to explain to her why being with father is not a good idea. Horrible idea. If she came home and told me she had a new boyfriend I'd accept it in a heartbeat, but him.. The person who created me and left us alone just like that. It's not even questionable.
