Chapter 17

3rd Person POV

Tang Yi stands up and reaches out his hand towards Shao Fei.

"Come on, we'll go find my dad. I'll help you find the truth."

Shao Fei nodded and took his hand and they both walked back inside. As they walked in, they saw Zhao Zi and Jack talking to each other.

"It looks like you two reconciled." Tang Yi commented.

They both looked up. Jack looked down at their laced hands and smiled.

"Same with you two."

They both looked at each other and smiled.

"We talked it out." Shao Fei said.

"So did we." Jack said and pulled Zhao Zi closer and kissed his cheek.

"JACK!" Zhao Zi shouted and punched him in the arm.

Jack just smiled and continued to tease him, making Zhao Zi's face turn red. Tang Yi and Shao Fei were smiling at the scene in front of them.

"How long exactly were they a thing?" Shao Fei asked.

Tang Yi shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know."

Eventually, they calmed down and Tang Yi got serious.

"Jack, have you seen my father? We need to talk to him."

"No, I haven't seen him."

Tang Yi sighed.

"Tang Yi, let's go back to my mom. I want to check on her."

Tang Yi nods and they all head back to the room. As they walk in, they see that Tang Guo Dong is sitting in a chair next to the bed. He looks up when he hears the door open. Shao Fei angrily starts walking towards him.

"What're you doing here? Stay away from her." Shao Fei says angrily.

Tang Yi rushes forward and wraps his arm around his waist, pulling him away.

"Shao Fei, calm down." Tang Yi whispers in his ear.

Shao Fei looks at Tang Yi and then back to Tang Guo Dong. He took a deep breath and calmed down. Tang Yi looked towards Tang Guo Dong.

"Dad, we need to talk."

Tang Guo Dong sighed and nodded.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions and I know I have a lot of explaining to do. Especially to you." He said as he looked at Shao Fei.

"How do you know my mom? Why was she with you? Do you two know each other?"

As Tang Guo Dong was about to speak, a small groan came out of Shao Fei's mom. Shao Fei rushes to her side.

"Mom, are you ok?"

Shao Fei helps her sit up, placing a pillow behind her back to make her more comfortable.

"I'm fine honey. Are you alright? You're not hurt, are you?" she asked as she checked everywhere on Shao Fei to see any injuries.

Shao Fei shook his head, "I'm fine mom. I'm more worried about you."

She looked around the room in confusion. When she saw Tang Yi, her confused expression changed to anger.

"What're you doing here? You put my son in danger. Stay away from him." she said angrily.

Everyone was taken aback by her words, especially Tang Yi. He took a step back. Shao Fei placed his hands on his mother's shoulders.

"Mom, it's alright. Tang Yi was the one who saved me. He helped me escape."

Her anger didn't subside. She looked towards Tang Guo Dong.

"And you, I told you a long time ago I didn't want to be involved with you. I can't believe that I'm in this situation. And it's all because of your son."

"Li Zhen, calm down. None of us wanted this to happen. You shouldn't blame Tang Yi for this." Tang Guo Dong said to try to calm her down.

She looked at him in anger.

"You're the reason he was in danger too. Did you know that Shao Fei was my son? Is that how you found me?"

"Mom?" Shao Fei said.

Li Zhen looked towards Shao Fei; her anger slightly subsiding.

"We need to talk."

Li Zhen sighed.

"I never thought this day would come. Shao Fei, I didn't want you to get involved in this. I just wanted you to live a normal life. I didn't think that the past would come back to hurt you."

"Mom, how are you involved in this? Do you know him?" Shao Fei asked as he looked at Tang Guo Dong who was looking away from the two.

Li Zhen sighed and nodded, "Yes, I know him."

"And how do you know him?"

Li Zhen looked around the room at everyone and lastly looked towards Tang Guo Dong. She sighed and took both of Shao Fei's hands and looked him in the eye.

"Shao Fei, it's because of your father. He used to work for him."
