Shao Fei's POV
The teacher was doing a lecture, but I couldn't focus on it. I was so nervous about hanging out with Tang Yi. What if I mess something up? If I embarrass myself in front of him, I'll never be able to face him again. Finally, the teacher announced the end of class. I quickly packed up my stuff and headed for the cafeteria.
As I walked in, I didn't see Tang Yi. I brought out my phone to text him when suddenly I felt a weight on my back. I yelped in surprise and turned around to see Zhao Zi, with his stupid grin on his face.
"Zi, you scared me. Don't do that."
Zhao Zi laughed, "Sorry, I just wanted to find you and say good luck on your date."
"It's not a date."
"Sure it is. You two are going to hang out alone and have a meal."
I opened my mouth to argue more when someone called out my name. I turned around to see Tang Yi.
"Hey, you ready to go?"
I nodded my head, "Hey. Yeah, I'm ready."
I turned to Zhao Zi, "I'll see you later."
Zhao Zi gave me a thumbs up as Tang Yi and I walked away. I noticed that we were walking away from the cafeteria. I looked at him confused. He looked back at me, and I saw that he noticed my confusion.
"I want to take you out for lunch. I hope that's ok."
I smiled and nodded my head, "Yeah, that's fine."
He held out his hand, "Let's go then."
I looked down at his hand and took it in mine. He led me to his car, and I could feel my face heat up the whole time. We got in the car and started driving. I felt nervous, if this even counted as a date, then this would be my first one and my crush was sitting right next to me.
We eventually stopped in front of a small diner. We got out and walked in. There weren't a lot of people inside. The place looks cozy and had a nice atmosphere.
Then, an elderly woman came up to us. I saw her eyes widen in surprise.
"Oh, Tang Yi. It's been a while. How are you dear."
Tang Yi chuckled, "Hi Aunt Rose. Sorry, I've been busy with school."
"Oh, it's alright dear. And I see that you brought someone."
She looked over at me with a sweet looking smile. I felt a little nervous, but I gave a small smile and wave. She chuckled and waved back.
"I'll take you to your table."
Tang Yi beckoned to follow him. I followed closely behind him, and Aunt Rose led us to a table near the window. We sat down and she handed each of us a menu.
"I'll bring that tea that you enjoy so much." She said and walked away.
I kept looking up from the menu to glance at Tang Yi. Are dates always this awkward? I looked back down at the menu, trying to calm my racing heart.
Tang Yi's POV
I noticed that Shao Fei was constantly looking at me. I smiled to myself at his cuteness. Aunt Rose came back with the tea.
"Here's your tea. What would you boys like to have?"
We both told her, and she wrote it down.
"It'll be ready in a few minutes."
She walked away and headed to the kitchen.
"So, I assume you come here often?" Shao Fei asked.
"Yeah, Aunt Rose makes the best food. I haven't been able to visit though. I just got to busy."
"Well, I can see why you like it here. It's cozy here. You have good taste."
Shao Fei looked around with a smile. I grinned and took a sip of my tea. Aunt Rose came back with our food. We thanked her and started eating.
"Wow, this is so good." Shao Fei eyes lit up, almost like a child.
"I'm glad you like it."
We kept eating and just doing small talk. Shao Fei told me all about his mom and her restaurant, how he always helps her out after school. He also told me about his friend, Zhao Zi, and how they've known each other since they were freshmen in high school.
"What about you? What's your life like?"
I froze at the question. I wouldn't want him to know about the dark part of my life. What if I scared him off. I just shrugged my shoulders.
"It's nothing really. Jack is really my only friend. His dad knows my dad. I don't really like talking to others."
"Oh," Shao Fei said, "Well, I hope you don't mind talking to me."
I smiled at him. "Of course, I don't mind talking to you."
He smiled again. I have to admit he had the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. We finished up and I went to Aunt Rose to pay.
"Be sure to come again dear, and make sure to bring your friend too."
"I'll come back when I have the time. Bye Aunt Rose."
Shao Fei and I walked back to the car.
"That was nice. Thanks for bringing me here."
I looked over at him, "No problem."
I drove back to the school. I can't believe this was our first date, unless Shao Fei thinks of this as a date. I pulled up to the school parking lot and we both got out.
"Hey Shao Fei."
He turned around, "Yeah?"
"It was really nice going out with you. Would you like to do it again some other time?"
I held my breath, waiting on his answer. I saw the shock in his eyes.
"Like a date?" He asked.
I didn't expect that question, "Well yeah, if you want it to be. No pressure though."
He smiled and I could see the small tint of red on his cheeks. "Yeah, I would like that."
I let out a small sigh of relief, "Great, I'll tell you whenever I'm free."
He nodded his head and waved as he walked away. I waved back. I couldn't believe it; I was so excited. I started walking back to class, now with my heard jumping for joy. It seems like it would be smooth sailing from here on out.
??? POV
"I have a task for you." He said as he places a folder in front of me. I opened it up and see multiple pictures of Tang Yi and some other guy with him.
"I want you to handle Tang Yi. I want constant reports of him. If we want to get to Tang Guo Dong, we have to use him. Do you understand?"
I nodded my head, "Yes father, I understand."
"Good, don't fail me. Now leave."
I bowed and left his room. I took a closer look at one of the pictures with the other guy. I have to admit, he looks pretty cute. I smiled to myself and headed to my room. I have to be prepared.
