Chapter 9

3rd Person POV

Tang Yi led Shao Fei back to the car.

"Do I get to ask for a hint this time?" Shao Fei asked.

Tang Yi chuckled, "Let's just say this place is special to me."

They got into the car and Tang Yi started driving. They drove for a while till Tang Yi pulled up to a park.

"What're we doing here?" Shao Fei asked, confusion littered across his face.

"I'm taking you to my favorite spot." Tang Yi simply replied.

They both got out of the car. Tang Yi took Shao Fei's hand and led him down a trail. Shao Fei looked around and thought the place looked beautiful. The night sky with the moon and stars glowing and the streetlights illuminating the path and trees growing pink flowers. Tang Yi eventually stopped at a bench and sat down. Shao Fei sat next to him.

"It's really beautiful here." Shao Fei commented.

"You like it?"

Shao Fei nodded his head.

"I used to come here with someone close to me. I wanted to take you here."

Shao Fei froze for a minute at the words 'someone close'. 

"Um, was the person-"

"I don't have an ex if that's what you're thinking." Tang Yi interrupted.

Shao Fei was relieved at the response, but also embarrassed. Shao Fei rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling awkwardly.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have asked that." Shao Fei muttered.

Tang Yi chuckled and stroked Shao Fei's hair, "It's alright."

They both fell into a comfortable silence, enjoying the presence of each other. Shao Fei enjoyed the way Tang Yi was lightly stroking his hair. Eventually, a burning question was rising up in Shao Fei.

"Tang Yi?"

"Yes?"

"Why do you like me?"

Tang Yi's movements halted as he looked at him confused.

"Where's this coming from?"

Shao Fei hung his head down, "I don't know, it's just, why'd you choose me? There're so many other people that're better than me, so why do you like me? I'm not wealthy or attractive, I don't have amazing life stories. I'm just another boring university student who works at a restaurant with his mom. "

Tang Yi placed his hand under Shao Fei's chin and tilted his head up, "Do you really want to know?"

Shao Fei looked into his eyes and nodded. Tang Yi smiled and placed Shao Fei's head on his shoulder and started stroking his hair. 

"Shao Fei, you think that you're just another boring university student, but you're so much more. I see a kind, smart, amazing person who's willing to help others. You're always so hard working, and I always admire that. I don't care if you're wealthy or not. You say that you're not attractive, but in my eyes you're the most beautiful person inside and out."

Shao Fei looked up at him in astonishment. Tang Yi looked down at him.

"I don't want you to think so little of yourself, ok?"

"Do you really think that way about me?" 

Tang Yi smiled, "Whoever doesn't think you're an amazing person is an idiot."

Shao Fei let out a small laugh.

"Now, I should ask you the same thing. Why do you like me?"

Shao Fei looked back down, "Who wouldn't like someone like you? You're the coolest, popular person in school. I've always admired you, but I never thought that you would notice me. Now, I can't believe that you asked me to go out with you."

"Well, I'm glad that you accepted me. I don't know what I would've done if you rejected me."

They both chuckled together. Shao Fei closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of Tang Yi's fingers running through his hair. Tang Yi smiled and rested his head on top of Shao Fei's.

Unbeknownst to either of them, there was someone watching them from distance.

I think this chapter is a little short, but I think this it's a good place to stop for some suspense.😜
