Chapter one: A new case

The yellowish bell that sits right above the door, ready to make its specific noises at any time, finally jingles. The sound gets Mr. Hwang's attention, his gaze moving towards the entrance. A shocked expression appeared on his face when he realised who made their appearance in the room. His eyes capture the silhouette of Lee Felix Yongbok, one of the best and most known detectives in the state. You could almost say the boy looks like a TV star. With his blond soft mullet, an elegant black suit on and his straight posture, the young man could definitely get a lot of looks from the passersby on the street. His plain expression and piercing look make him look somewhat arrogant, yet mysterious at the same time. The blond man has defined features and freckles that sit beautifully on his smooth face, his olive skin bringing everything together.

The brunet was amazed by the blond's image, but was more surprised by the fact that he actually showed up. The fact that he's standing in Mr. Hwang's office is for sure mind-blowing for the other detectives who saw Felix entering that room. Everyone is shocked, yet elated because they finally have the chance to see him in real life.

"Detective Felix! Never thought I would get the chance to see or talk to you! How was your ride here?" a smile appears on Mr. Hwang's face as he slowly gets up from the leather chair. He bows as a sign of respect and waits for Felix to fully enter the small place.

The serious expression never leaves Felix's face as he closes the wooden door behind him. He bows back in a mannered way, making his way towards the desk afterwards. "Good evening, Mr. Hwang." he pauses, the ends of his lips slightly moving upwards. "Let's cut to the chase. What's the case?" the boy sits down in front of the confused man that was still standing beside his leather chair.

"Why would you think I have a case for you?"

"My boss said it was urgent and you needed me." Felix looks up at the brunet, his eyes finding the latter's. "There no other reason why I would be here in the first place. Of course it is about a case. So, what is it about?"

"Well, aren't you so discourteous? That's how you talk to your boss, too?" he voices his thoughts at the blond's brazen words, lightly raising his voice. The latter takes a seat, too, his eyes searching for something.

"Oh, sorry! I didn't mean to be discourteous, I just am in a hurry." the boy apologetically smiles, tapping his foot in an anxious manner.

With a small smile on his face, the brunet searches for some files on his desk while Felix's eyes are traveling his face. A slight bit of anxiety keeps showing in Mr. Hwang's behavior as well, his thoughts are all messed up in his head. If Felix refuses to solve this case or at least help, it's gonna be over for him. That's one of the reasons why he tries so hard to create a good vibe between them two. He's not good with communicating nicely with new people, which makes this whole situation even worse for the brunet. He has to fake everything only to find someone who'd be willing to take the case.

"No problem. I guess I'll just tell you what the case is about, then?" he utters after finding the paper he needed.

"Sure."

"Detective Felix, have you, by any chance, heard anything about the mass murder that took place in front of the police station last week?"

The moment the words that left Mr. Hwang's lips got to the blond's ears, his interest in listening suddenly got bigger and, without any other comments left, he nods. "I have. What about it?" he gets closer to the, now, smirking man who seems to notice Felix's interest in the case.

"It used to be my own case which means I know all of the information. I guess I will eventually try and explain it to you." the brunet began, making eye contact with the one before him. "There's something strange about this particular case. Some police officers tried asking the people who were around the area at the time of the murder if they have or have not witnessed anything. Everyone's answer was, in fact, no. They haven't seen anything even though they were walking down that street at the time the mass murder took place. The cameras captured everything. Yet another weird thing that makes the case indecipherable is that no one was filmed killing those innocent people. They didn't appear in the footage we have of the tragic incident. It was like the victims were cut, shot and broke in two by the pure air. I would call it the perfect crime. No one was ever able to do this until now." he pauses himself before opening his mouth again. "Yet another weird thing about it is that only police officers, judges and lawyers were killed."
