Chapter twelve: Jealousy
A week has passed after their last mission and the boys are just hanging around with each other, spending time on nothing productive but talking. From time to time, laughter could be heard inside the room, some of the members randomly throwing in jokes related to the topics they decide to approach. A wave of comfortable silence washes over the eight boys, every one of them taking their time to take in the peace and quietness. This is one of the moments Felix feels the genuine love the members feel for one another. Simple moments like this when there's nothing to say, yet slight smiles and comfortable stares are still present, make the blond trust and care about the seven boys even more, to the point it scares him.
A small smile lingers on Felix's face as he averts his gaze from the men surrounding him, his eyes falling onto the nighttime sky. His eyes glisten when they become slightly wet from the tears that seem to appear due to the happiness he feels. The boy feels himself getting overwhelmed by this feeling he often doesn't feel, and blinks repetitively in order to get rid of the salty, colorless tears that wanted so badly to be let to flow down Felix's cheeks. The latter has always loved the sky as much as he loved watching it. He liked looking at the moon and stars, yet he still adored the daytime sky that came with a shiny sun and white, fluffy clouds. The boy felt at peace whenever glancing at the sky above him. It was like a stress reliever, something that could always make him feel better.
"Felix?" Peter waves his hand in front of Felix's face, act that interrupted the latter's train of thoughts. The blond looks at him, confused by why the brunet stopped him from silently enjoying his free time. "We were talking about you discovering one of your powers. You seem so out of it. What's up?" he asks with concern clearly sounding in his voice.
"Nothing, just thinking." he smiles, letting everyone know he's fine. "About my power? Again? This would be like the tenth time." he scoffs and jokingly rolls his eyes. "You're so obsessed." he jokes before chuckling at his own words.
"He for sure is." Peter points at Sam, a cheeky smile appearing on his face. "He's been bragging about you and how cool your power is this whole time." he lets out a chuckle after seeing Sam roll his eyes, a not-so-obvious blush creeping across his cheeks.
"I talked to you about it only for once. How am I the obsessed one?"
"Interesting." Felix mutters only for himself before grabbing his newly opened beer. "So you talk about me with the others, huh?" he teasingly asks the taller, a smirk playing on his lips.
"Don't make a big deal out of it. I mostly talk shit." he winks at the blond and smiles, an amused chuckle leaving his lips after hearing the shorter scoff.
"Whatever." the blond mutters before getting up from his seat. "I'll be right back." he says while walking away.
"Like we care!" the red haired male says smiling before turning back to talking to Sky.
"I heard that, Sam!" Felix yells with a grin on his face before watching the elevator's doors close.
After going to the bathroom, the blond took the elevator again, this time heading to the ground floor. He didn't know why, but he felt drained. The extroverted side of him kept telling him to go back and talk to the others while his introverted side was screaming at him to just have some time alone, away from everyone and everything. He really needed this time to collect himself before heading back inside.
A sigh leaves his reddish lips, his cheeks getting redder and redder from the cold the outside prepared for him. It's almost the end of winter, yet the cold wind still manages to make Felix tremble. A satisfied smile takes over Felix's straight face after the blond inhales the fresh air he's been craving. His eyes make contact with a paper on the ground, Sky's face being on display. Felix raises a brow before kneeling down and taking the paper sheet in his hands. The word "missing" was written in bold letters at the top of the crinkled sheet the blond was holding. A sigh leaves his dry lips before he closes his eyes and takes a big breath in. "I'll just ask him about it tomorrow." he thinks before shoving the object in the back pocket of his jeans. He walks back where he previously was and takes a cigarette outside of the newly opened pack followed by a lighter. The sound of the lighter being turned on brings Felix memories of his mother's padlock, the day it shattered being displayed in his mind like a short movie. That day, when Felix saw it turning into ashes, was the day he felt something inside him die. Hence the motive why he's not even trying to replace it. But maybe the stinging pain his heart felt in that moment was for the best. Or at least that's what the blond likes to think.
