More than Expected

      They stand with their families and friends just as his flight is being called to board. "Oh, Kiddo, this is where we part ways. Stay safe. I love you." Martha tells her son as she pulls him in for a hug, "I love you too, Mother." He then moves to shake Jim's hand and hugs Johanna, "Stay safe, son." Jim says, "I will, Sir. You'll make sure she doesn't wallow?" Rick whispers the question referring to his girlfriend, "We'll make sure she does stuff." Johanna promises before kissing the young man's cheek.
     Rick then says goodbye to their friends. "Um, we'll be over here." Johanna says as she notices it's time for Rick to say goodbye to Kate. He nods in appreciation before walking over to Kate. She's already got tears streaming down her face, "Hey." He says, "Hi." She responds. He rests his forehead against hers and wipes her cheeks, "I hate seeing you cry, beautiful." He tells her. "I hate watching you go." She replies. He sighs before kissing her lips, "I love you." He says, "I love you too. You come back to me, okay? Come back to us."
     "Always." He promises. His plane is called for final boarding. He wraps his arms around her and kisses her cheek, "I love you so much." He whispers in her ear, "I love you too. We love you." She tells him. He squats down and kisses her bump, "I love you, little one. Take care of Mom and try not to make your grand debut until I get back." He presses one final kiss to her belly before standing and kissing her quickly, "I'll see you in 14 weeks." He tells her, "14 weeks." She agrees. She watches him board the flight.
      Johanna moves to stand behind her daughter and wraps her arms around her, "I'm sorry, baby." Johanna comforts her. Kate turns in her mother's arms as she lets out a sob clings to her. Johanna rubs her daughter's back. After a few moments, they watch Rick's plane take off and then Johanna accompanies Kate to her prenatal appointment. It's not a long visit, just a few tests to check for any genetic diseases. Once the appointment is over, Kate lays in her bed looking at pictures of her and Rick on her laptop before she falls asleep in Rick's shirt.
Part 28! I know it's short, but my inspiration for this story is lacking! I'll try to find some motivation soon.
