What If Olivia Didn't Get Snapped? (Part one)

After Wanda had blown the stone in Visions head to pieces, Thanos took matters into his own hands, turning back time to just moments before when Vision was alive along with the stone. "No!" Wanda screamed, getting up. Thanos pelted her out of his way, sending her a couple feet away, landing roughly in the dirt. Olivia shuffled over to her knowing that this was going to be painful for her to watch. She wrapped her arms around her, hiding her own face.

Thanos picked Vision up by the neck, reached up and ripped the stone from his head, killing Vision again. Visions body went limp and grey as Thanos dropped him to the ground below. Without hesitation, Thanos placed the final stone into his gauntlet, sending power surging through his body.

Out of nowhere, Thor appeared, bringing Stormbreaker down into Thanos' chest. Wanda pulled away from Olivia's hug and crawled over to Visions lifeless body. She hovered over him, holding him, tears falling down her face. Olivia didn't want to get in her way, staying put. She leaned her head back against the fallen tree that sit behind her wiping her sweat and tears from her face. Her stomach ached from the impact of Thanos' strike followed by her landing harshly on the ground. She brought her head back up, glancing over at Wanda, but what she saw was not what she was expecting.

Wanda's body began to slowly fade away into what looked like ash or dust. Olivia jumped up with a groan, running over to her. "Wanda? Wanda!" Olivia yelled, watching in complete horror as her friend disappeared before her very eyes. She stood their silently for a moment grabbing at what she could only assume were the remaining pieces of Wanda. In the distance she heard shouts and cries, but one particular shout that stood out to her. It was her mother calling her name repeatedly. Olivia perked up jogging in the direction of Natasha's voice. "Mom? Mom?" She yelled, spotting her amongst the trees.

Natasha sighed with relief at the sight of her daughter. The two ran swiftly towards one another, resulting in an impactful hug, Natasha's hand held firmly on the back of Olivia's head. She took Olivia's face into both of her hands and smiled at her. "Thank God you're still here", she said. With Olivia being an Avenger there was always the risk of losing her, but this was the closest Natasha had ever gotten.

"Wanda is gone", Olivia frowned, tears escaping. "Is Steve okay?"

"Yes, but we've lost people. I don't even know who or how many right now" Natasha said, sort of out of breath. A group of survivors slowly crowded around Visions limp body. Steve, Bruce, Thor, Rhodey, and a raccoon that Olivia had never seen before. Natasha and Olivia jogged over, Nat looking down at a deceased Vision, bringing her hand to her stomach.

It was quiet. The sound of war was silenced to wind, rustling in the trees. The silence, however, was louder than ever, because no one knew what to say or even had a reason to say anything at all. The Avengers had been defeated. "What is this? What the hell is happening?" Rhodey asked, finally having the voice to ask the big question everyone else was thinking. No one needed to respond because they all knew what was happening, they just refused to believe it.

After packing up The Vision's body into the quintet, the few remaining members flew home trying to decide what to do next. Natasha and Olivia sat quietly beside one another on a cot. Olivia stared blankly at the wall across from her, trying to force the tears to stay in her eyes. The sight of Wanda fading away in front of her kept replaying over and over again in her mind. Thanos turning back time and ripping the mind stone from Vision's head was very traumatizing for her.

Natasha glanced over at Olivia as a small tear rolled down her daughters cheek. Today wasn't the worst Natasha had ever seen, but she knew that it would be difficult for Olivia. She brought her arm around her daughter and pulled her in closely. The physical touch was all Olivia needed for her emotions to give way. Hiding her face in Nat's side, she cried softly.
