RWBY : Past Mistakes

Chapter 20

Y/N jolts awake rapidly breathing. A surge of pain causes him to lie back down. His eyes wince in pain as a burning feeling in his chest slowly becomes noticeable. While taking a second to study his surroundings, he realizes that his at a hospital. And at the foot of the bed laid Weiss, who was currently fast asleep. As he moves to wake her, he hears a loud sip.

Ozpin: Ah.....Thought we lost you there. Before you wake Ms. Schnee...I'd like to speak to you for a moment.

Y/N lays back down as Ozpin takes another sip of his tea.

Ozpin: Can you explain how you ended up in a hospital?

Y/N looks down and points at the many bandages covering his chest.

Y/N: I mean... that's a pretty good explanation.

Ozpin: Hm...

He takes another sip.

Ozpin: Do you know why you were attacked?

Y/N: I've no idea.

Ozpin: We know about the bounty.

Y/N: I don't know what your–

He tosses a scroll with a picture of Y/N on the screen.

Ozpin: It seems to have been taken down.

Y/N: Isn't that a good thing?

Ozpin: Possibly. We can look at it one of two ways. They think the job is complete or...

Y/N: Or?

Ozpin: They're choosing to take care of it themselves.

Y/N: Oh.

Ozpin: You don't sound surprised.

Y/N: I mean...this isn't the first time bounty I've had on me.

Ozpin: But they were the first to be close to killing you.

Hearing Ozpin say those words made Y/N slightly nervous.

Y/N: Yea...

Y/N had plenty of close calls, but this one....this one was different.

Ozpin: From now on, you are not to leave school grounds without a staff member accompanying you. Is that clear?

Y/N: I don't think that's–

Ozpin: Is that clear?

Ozpin's voice turned slightly more serious than usual, making Y/N a little afraid of him.

Y/N: Y-Yes sir...

Ozpin: Good.

He makes his way toward the door but stops before leaving

Ozpin: Oh! Before I forget... Mr. Ironwood is coming to Beacon.

Y/N: And that concerns me because?

Ozpin: Because he'd like to speak to you once he arrives.

Without letting him ask any questions, Ozpin quickly leaves.

Y/N: *Sigh*

Y/N gently grabs Weiss's shoulder and lightly shakes her.

Y/N: Weiss?

Weiss: *💤 💤 *

Y/N: Weiss!

Weiss: Ah!

She tries to jump to her feet but ends up hitting her knee against the bed beams and crumbles back down in pain.

Y/N: A-are you okay?
