Chapter 4: Sunshine and Citrus

Miyano pov

The newest addition to their pack was... an experience. Sasaki was just so excited about every new thing - meeting the other pack members, scent swapping, and having close contact with packmates came as a shock to him that it was... cute to see.

He was a majestic lion in their field, but he really acted like a golden retriever sometimes...

"The group chat is so cool!" Sasaki smiled so much that his canine poked out, it was adorable.

"Mhm, it's an easy way for us to keep in touch." Miyano spoke as he filled out his journal. It was the end of yet another school day, and he was the last one in class while he finished his task. And of course, Sasaki found him.

"Say, Mya-chan, is it normal to feel this giddy all the time?"

When Miyano looked at his senpai, he swore he saw stars and flowers glowing from him. "Well, kinda? It's your body adjusting to pack life now. Your life is tied to so many people now, so it can get overwhelming. I'm able to channel that so everyone feels happier emotions until you feel settled in."

Sasaki's eyes widened. "Wait, you're making me feel so good?"

Miyano ducked his head, trying to hide his blush. "Y-Yeah... one of the perks of being head omega, I guess. I learned it through trial and error, so it's easier now to control."

"Amazing... you're so amazing, Mya-chan." Sasaki's awed tone and words made his heart want to beat out of his chest.

"It's nothing."

Their feet were touching, and Sasaki's arm was draped across the desk so it brushed against Miyano's while he worked. "Why does it feel so easy to give, um, so much physical affection to the others?"

"Pack dynamics are like that. Packs can be closer than most regular families, especially healthy packs. That's why ours is so important. Alphas who make packs generally use more force to form pack bonds, and usually things get aggressive for other alphas in those packs. Since I'm omega, it all happens naturally because I can scent who's pack and who isn't. I don't have to force anyone into it, I just let the pack scent work and they choose." Miyano squirmed a bit at Sasaki's rapt attention on him. "Because we were all destined to be together as a pack, our inner selves thrive on physical affection. It's like a chemical in our brains that makes us feel good, and so we seek each other out for comfort. Does that answer your question?"

"Yep! Thanks for explaining it!" Sasaki was back to being all sunshine and rainbows, and Miyano tried very hard not to be distracted by his allure.

"You still need to meet Fujimi-chan, she's at the hospital still."

"Kuresawa-kun's girlfriend? What do you mean by 'still?'"

Miyano's pencil stopped, worry pouring out of him. "She's been sick for a while now. The doctors say there's some kind of irregularity to her hormone balance that's affecting her immune system. Because she's pure omega, they have to treat her delicately, so it's taking a while to find the problem." He wanted to bite on his eraser, a habit he had when there was a problem he couldn't solve.

Sasaki laid a hand on top of his, and the skin-on-skin contact made Miyano buzz pleasantly where he touched. Surely that wasn't normal? "Hey, we'll figure out how to help her together."
