Chapter 30: The Key To My Heart

Chapter 30: The Key To My Heart

Miyano Pov

The strain came on quicker than he thought it would. When he closed his eyes and focused, it's like he could see the inner workings of the network of pack bonds.

Miyano was the single center with string-like ropes sweeping out to hold on to each person. Each person was like a precious flower that he had to hold on to delicately. The brightest of all these strings was Sasaki. His was the one he clung to the most, and it made him tense more when he needed to relax.

Everyone but him, Tashiro, Kuresawa, Kagiura, and Fujimi were at the college. Almost all of the alphas and his oldest omega were there, and that's what first put the strain on. His inner omega was the one behaving frantically, and he saw their field in his mind.

The bunny kept the owl, cockatiel, hedgehog, and shiba inu close while it hopped desperately around to try to get to the other animals who were on the outskirts of their safe haven.

"Miyano? Is it okay?" Kuresawa asked him, breaking his concentration.

The head omega opened his eyes to see his packmates watching him in concern. "I just need a little longer to get used to it." He had to. This would become the norm in a couple months.

Kagiura nodded and talked to Hirano on the phone. "He said give him a little longer to get used to it."

Fujimi squeezed Miyano's hand, and the reassurance helped and he smiled at her. He closed his eyes, casting the school gates from his mind.

Those ties that bonded them all together had to be stronger. The strings thicker. So that they wouldn't break over the distance.

The more Miyano was able to focus on that, the calmer his inner self was becoming. Pack is not lost, we're still together. He reminded himself. The deep assurance threaded the bonds like steel, and the heaviness in his chest lifted.

Pack would be okay, Miyano would make sure of that. He smiled as he managed the strain to a minimal, and it became like white noise in the background.

He sighed, and opened his eyes again. "It's better now. It should be fine." It has to be, he reminded himself again.

Everyone smiled, but Tashiro still shown concern. "You sure, aniki?"

Miyano nodded, smiling. "It was a strain at first, but it's better now. It helps that they're in the same area together." We have one alpha here to protect pack. His inner omega abruptly stated, puzzling him. It's like his inner self was okay with that, so Miyano shrugged it off.

"Okay, they're meeting us halfway at a barbecue place." Kagiura told them, and they set off for the train station.

Yes, everything would be fine. It had to be.
