Chapter 34: Eternally Bonded

Sasaki and Miyano visited the doctor as soon as they got back home. Their nervous, yet hopeful, energies swirled together as their hands stayed firmly clamped together. Once or twice Sasaki scented his wrist or neck while they waited. It was an endearing habit he seemed to pick up recently, and it made Miyano smile every time.

Miyano felt at ease being in the familiar doctor's office rather than the hospital.

When Dr. Minamoto came in, he greeted them with a smile. "Hello to you both. How are you feeling?"

Miyano nodded to him. "I'm still on light duty, and I feel like I'm almost back to full strength." He squeezed his mate's hand as he smiled at him. "He's been taking care of me a lot." He felt the warmth between them grow.

"Very good, and how is Sasaki-san feeling?"

Sasaki hadn't expected to be asked, so he was a bit startled. "Oh, uh, good? I'm doing great!"

The doctor chuckled and nodded before looking back at the omega. "What about your emotions? Any more developments?"

"I... I've only felt some emotions return to me. The last one was anger..." Miyano frowned at the memory of feeling it rush to him. "But still nothing with love or what I feel toward Shuumei, and I haven't felt my inner self return either."

"Well, with the treatments no longer working on you there are two options left. One is time. With time, your amygdala will right itself, but how long that might take I am unsure... And the second option is the recent one I've brought you here today. It's the surest way to bring your inner omega back and help fix your amygdala."

"By mating?" Miyano met his gaze head-on and watched as the doctor nodded.

"Mating for fated pairs creates a healthy bond that has helped speed up any healing done to the body. It is also a very big commitment, though I don't think that's the issue here." He glanced at how close they were. "The issue lies in pregnancy from the act. While a bonding between an alpha and omega couple has significant higher chances in resulting in pregnancy, with your case we may be able to lower those chances."

Miyano's eyes lit up at that. "How so?"

"With your current condition it will lower the odds even more, and the contraceptive you and Sasaki-san can take lower those odds even more. It is not foolproof, however. What's meant to happen will happen, and it is something you both need to discuss in case you do carry."

Miyano let out a breath he'd been holding. He still felt hopeful, more even with the odds being lowered, but he knew they needed to take the outcome seriously if he should end up pregnant. He felt reassurance wash over him, and turned to see his alpha gazing at him with sincere eyes.

"I'm okay with anything you want to do." Sasaki told him, and the warmth settled in his chest.

So he squared his shoulders and squeezed the hand intertwined with his as he looked back at their doctor. "I want to go through with it."

They were told about the contraceptives, and that both their parents' would have to be informed and pick up the medicine. It wasn't a problem for them since they had been talking about it already with their parents' since they returned home from their trip.
