That same night, Lan Xichen was woken by a bleep from his phone, and, sleepily, he swore that, in case it was Gao Xi or Kath, he was going to strangle either of them (or both of them!)  with his own hands, because it was almost 4 in the morning, and he was absolutely drained.

But the text was from Lan Wangji, and he grinned when he read it  -  it was very obvious that the boys had had the talk  that evening, or rather  -  that night, and had finally decided.

* The wedding's on the 7th of February. Happy now, moron?! *

He got back to bed, scooping Jiang Wanyin closer, hugging him again, enjoying the warm feeling of the smaller man cuddling into him immediately, with a silent sigh, pleased with the fact that the noise had not managed to wake him up.

- So pretty...  -  he murmured, kissing his nape lightly.  -  So shiny... My Wanyin...

The truth was that Lan Huan was more tired than usual, but he also felt more energized than ever. There were mountains of paperwork and preparations to be done in this last week, but he also got to spend every free moment with his lover, and this made him happy. The fact that A-Cheng's contract with the Death  was almost over brought additional excitement, and there was also the extra feeling of safety, now with Brent being (technically speaking)  available 24/7.

Life was good right now.

His Di was getting married. His baby brother was grumpy, more than usual, but also happy. Finally, he could breathe. Finally, things were falling into places.

He was stroking Jiang Cheng's long hair, thinking about his phone call with Wangji that evening. If their father was really to die soon, it was a matter he had to take care of, and urgently. Just when should he plan for his own wedding? He barely had time for anything.

He could clearly see that his lover was getting anxious, impatient about it. Jiang Wanyin craved for certainty; he was craving for their love to be cast in stone, bound by law, made sure and made valid  -  in all possible ways. He never took that awfully ugly ring off his hand either.

As close as they were already, he could feel that the young man still had his bouts of doubt, of jealousy, of depression even. Anger covered it all, but thinly; he already knew how to see through this veil of empty bark, which, in most cases, expressed sheer helplessness.

He kissed the warm skin again, inhaling the scent of the beautiful curls to his heart's content.

He had no way to check whether and how his father had changed his will  -  the family lawyers were deeply unbribable.  He had no way to know whether all the wealth of the family would be left to his mother, to him and Wangji, or just re-distributed to "charity"  and be gone forever.

He had to win that case. He had to.

If he won the Victor Zorn trial case, his commission would be sky-high, a couple of millions, and his reputation?  -  it would be soaring. He would most probably be made partner in the agency, and this meant more freedom, and more independence.

Maybe... if this... all of this came true... well, maybe then... he could implement his plan.

His dream.

- For you and me, my love...  -  he murmured softly, closing his eyes finally, and trying to get back to sleep.

- Huan?  -  Jiang Cheng tried to turn into the warm embrace and face him.  -  What is it?  -  he mumbled sleepily.
