Lan Xichen stepped into the darkish place boldly.
- Good evening, Maestro! – he called merrily, although he could not see the goldsmith anywhere yet.
There was some slight, grumpy mumbling now, coming from the back of the premises, and soon enough the old man appeared, gaping now. Lan Xichen was standing tall, grinning at him devilishly, far too pleased about something.
- Ain't you too early, eh? Impatient, are we, ehhhh? – he scoffed a little, raising an eyebrow, but in reality he also felt rather hot now, a little embarrassed.
He had been watching the news lately. He now knew too well just who was standing smack in the middle of his humble workshop. He slightly regretted having been so rude the last time they'd spoken.
- Hey! Hey! Hey! Yes! I know! – Lan Huan shot all the words far too impatiently indeed, a little scared that the old master might just kick him out and he would be left without a ring at all.
- So? – he man grunted.
- I...
Lan Huan blushed. He hadn't really thought this through, so now he just blurted out:
- I am here for another order! A new one! Not for me! For my Di! I want you to be the one to make his wedding bands!
- Haaa! – the jeweler grunted again. – Do you have their sizes? Material? Budget? Design? Deadline? Or are you just running in circles, like a fool?
Lan Huan gulped with difficulty. He could not remember the last time he had been scolded like this, like a schoolboy – but the man was right.
He didn't know all these details.
- Ummm... Ehhhmmm... No? But... I can get you the sizes! And the design... I leave to you! – he smiled is most charming smile now, remembering the way the goldsmith had melted last time when he paid him a compliment. – I trust you! You are the expert! I want it to be a wedding gift for my Di! I want them to be great! He is getting married on the 7th! – he chirped now, flushed and excited.
