Two days before
Daryl had finished skinning a snake, ready to cook it for him and Beth to eat. Beth still had faith everyone was alive, she kept reminding Daryl but he kept quiet. It just hurt his heart more, even if you were still alive with y'all's baby, he still had to ready for what's to come.
Morning came, Beth had ran off to look for food, Daryl stayed at the little camp. He just wanted to be by himself, but your voice was going through his head. Telling him to not leave her alone, "dammit y/n" he grunts under his breathe, taking his crossbow, and went to get Beth back to camp.
When he had brought her back she was very upset. "I'm not staying in this suck ass camp." She flipped him off trying away from him, but Daryl had had enough. "Hey!" Snatching her wrist.
She yanks it away yelling at him in anger, "What is wrong with you? Don't you feel anything?", he doesn't say a word, only stares. Beth continues to spew out more, but he wasn't paying attention, last thing he heard was that she was going to get her damn drink. She walked off, a couple seconds later he followed her.
Beth walks into an open field seeing a tipped over golf cart, she turns around seeing Daryl walk out from the low hanging branches. "Golfers like to booze it up, right?" She questions but still not a word from him.
Walking up the building seeing the doors closed, Beth tries to open the doors, but they were locked. Seeing more walkers head their way towards them they both go to the side doors on the other side.
Thankfully it was open, Daryl motions for her to come in behind him. As soon as they walk in Beth's eyes widened, there were dead people laying on the floor, some were on top of the other.
This didn't bother Daryl, he's been pressing down his emotions, he knew it wasn't going to be good for him, but you weren't there with him, that's his reason why.
Daryl grabbed a flight light, lighting it on walkers her were handing from the ceiling. A man and two women to be exact.
Time-skip
Daryl was leading Beth to an old shack he had found with you and Michonne. Some fun memories played in his head, suppressing a smile he keeps walking forward.
"I was expecting a liquor store."
"Nah this is better."He opens up the side door picking up a couple bottle of clear liquid. Beth was standing outside the door watching him, "what's that?" Still standing outside but confused why he was putting them in a crate.
"Moonshine." He gives her the crate, grabbing his crossbow and heading to the front door, Beth right behind carful of the glass.
Walking into the room, Daryl checks the back door to make sure no walkers were there, Beth had set down the crate of moonshine.
Grabbing a dusty cup Daryl hands it to her having already poured some of the liquid contents in. "This here the real stuff."
"How'd you know there'd be moonshine here?" She asks him inspecting the liquor, he was quiet for a few seconds but answered. "Was y/n. She found it."
"How'd she know?" She asked again, "said her brother drank that, her folks too. It was the smell I guess." He looks out the window seeing a stray walker then back to her. "What's the matter?" Seeing she hasn't taken her drink.
"Is nothin, just, my daddy said that bad moonshine can make you go blind."
"They ain't nothin worth seein out there anymore anyway." Looking out the window again.
Beth takes the first sip, scrunching her face saying that it was the most disgusting thing she tasted, then takes another swing, "second rounds better." Pouring more in the cup.
"Here, this one's for you." Handing him the cup but her was quick to deny her. "Nah I'm good." That moment reminded him of when you tried to offer him more and him saying no and rather touch your growing belly.
"What are you like my chaperone now." Shaking him out of memory. "Well somebody gotta keep watch."
After cleaning up some of the mess, Beth had managed to get Daryl to have a drink of moonshine. "So first I say something I've never done and if you have done it you drink, but if you haven't I drink."
Beth wanted to play a game to pass the time they would he hauled in the shack, Daryl was hesitant but agreed anyway.
"You really don't know this game."
"Never had to play a game to get lit before." He tells her, chewing on his thumb. You would smack his hand away telling him to stop or he's gonna get sick from all the germs, so he slowly puts his hand on his lap."Wait are we starting?"
"How do you know this game."
"My friends played. I only watched, I'll start. I've never shot a crossbow. Now you drink.""Ain't much of a game." He takes small sip. Beth tells him it was a warm up and that it was his turn. "I don't know, umm I've never been out of Georgia." He chews on his thumb again feeling his heart hurt.
"I've never been drunk and did something I regretted."
Daryl's eyes harden, his body goes stiff, he felt himself start to get angry. He takes a longer swing than last time, "I've never been on vacation."
"What about camping."
"Nah that was something I had to learn."Beth takes a sip, but not carful with the next words that came out of her mouth. "I've never been in jail."
Daryl got stiff again looking at her with his still harden eyes. He couldn't hear the words that were spewing out her mouth. 'Is this what it like to be deaf'. "Is that what you think of me."
"It wasn't anything serious, I'm sure y/n wouldn't have thought of you like that."
"An how you know, she ain't here no more. Drink up" He spat grunting the last part. "No wait, prison guard, we're you a prison guard."
"Nah"
Daryl was pissed, he thought he was out of part of people thinking he was one of those people, but he guessed he wrong. You were the only person who didn't look at him like that, his heart was hiding even more.
Beth stayed silent, her smile dropping, eyes to the cup not wanting to make eye contact with him.
"It's your turn."
Daryl huffs, getting up and taking the glass with him.
"I'm gonna go take a piss."
