Chapter 18: The Thin Blue

It had been three days since Hunhow had stopped the purse snatcher and the popularity among his punisher fame began to rise throughout the city of NY. Hunhow got up to go to school that day since the weekend was over. He went to turn on the TV and he saw the police holding a live press conference. Hunhow ate his cereal while he listened to what the chief had to say. "Police say the work of the vigilante or punisher as some have called him is not to be glorified". "This individual, is not a hero". "He uses extreme acts of carnage and brutality to get what he believes is justice". "By killing criminals or people in general, he is becoming a symbol of something that is not to be glorified but to be feared". "But not everyone says that the vigilante is a criminal". "He is doing what the NYPD and Mayor's office is failing to do". "He is putting criminals in their place". "He is putting the scumbags where they belong, in the morgue". Hunhow watches and all the different opinions of what he is doing don't seem to faze him. He laughs at the police and civilians. He knows what he has done is evil and he knows what he has done is wrong. But he feels it is in the best interest of both the victims, the city and those he loves. He goes to leave for school. He drives down the road and before going to school, picks up Crystal from her home. He picks her up and they talk about a lot of things from school, to life, to family, to social media plus friends and about their relationship. They reach school and they both go inside and walk together. They meet up with Lizzie, Jennifer and Marcus. They all talk and chat about a lot of things while Hunhow checks his phone and receives a text from Teresa and Kane. He has to report for guard duty and informs them he will be there after school. Principal Jessica Comes in at her usual time of 9:15 and delivers morning announcements. Afterwards Hunhow and his friends go to their classes. Hunhow during class sees a message from both his parents. He is nervous but calms down when they are both just giving a reminder that he needs to report to the Furry National Guard for duty today. He informs them that Kane and Teresa told him already but thanks them for reminding him. Afterwards when class is over and lunch is now in service, Hunhow and His friends all go out to eat. While they wait in line for their food he sees a report on the news about a sketch of his truck. Luckily however the truck is the wrong year, model and color. He relaxes himself and eats with his girlfriend and friends. They heard back to school as 1:00pm is the deadline for when senior students have to be back from lunch. He goes to spend the rest of the day running laps and weight lifting in PE class. Afterwards, Hunhow goes to spend his time at the National Guard. He reports to his superior officer and squad. He talks about Malcolm and thanks the team for standing by his side. He also apologizes to Teresa and makes amends for what he did during the flight back home from Afghanistan. She forgives him and promises to help him deal with the stress of readjusting to life back home. Hunhow goes through rigorous training protocols including cleaning weapons, sniper practicing, artillery firing and tank operations. Once he is finished, he is cleared to be dismissed from the base. But before he leaves his military quarters, he spots something. It is a small canister of blue paint. He decides to take the paint and go to his truck. He then begins to think of his uncle and what his uncle did for the NYPD when he was a detective. This prompts Hunhow to get a new idea for his skull vests. He drives home and paints all his skulls with a Thin Blue Line. He embraces the new look and sees the thin blue line as a guard between Law and Order against Anarchy and Chaos. Justice and peace is not an option for criminals. Murders, rapists, drug dealers, cartels, they are all the same. Lawless, vile, evil. And if the law can't do anything about them, then I will Hunhow speak to himself. Hunhow decides to go to a bar. He goes to have a small drink and at this current day and age 18 year olds Anthro and Human are allowed by law to drink. He grabs his Black Thin Blue Line Punisher Hoodie and goes to the bar. He doesn't expect anyone to recognize him or do anything he just sticks to the shadows and keeps his head down and out of sight of anyone suspicious.
