Chapter 39: I Never Asked For This

Hunhow woke up the next morning with his head still laying in Samantha's lap. He looked into the kitchen and saw Holly making breakfast for the two of them. Samantha slowly wakes up and then asks hunhow if he slept well. He says he did. They get off the couch and go to eat in his dinning room. Afterwards they all sit down and talk about Hunhow's physical and mental state. He explains he is fine and that he just was having a mental breakdown. He seems to be calm and caring. And he no longer displays any of the behavior he did yesterday. "I'm glad you're okay". "Just please don't ever scare me like that" Holly says. "I'm s-sorry". "I don't know what I was thinking". Holly and Hunhow hug and kiss each other.

~ Time Skip ~ 5 Hours Later ~

Hunhow is busy talking on the phone with his mother. He apologizes for hanging up on her. She wasn't happy with him abruptly ending the call but forgave him. He wraps up the call. He finishes the call with his mother Jane and hangs up. He then watches TV for a while with Holly and Samantha until he gets a phone call from Mayor Looma. "What do you need" he asked. "I've got a job for you, if you're interested" she said. "Why, you sick of the police not getting the job done enough"? he asked. "No, it's because when it comes to this stuff you're the best" she said. "I need you to meet me outside my office". Hunhow is kinda confused but he doesn't seem to question her. He gets up and gets his gear ready. He goes to grab the tactical helmet and headset he got from the militia compound and painted. He quickly sets up the arc rail adapters and punisher patches.

"Hunhow, were are you going"? Holly calls out. "To go get a job finished" he says. "WAIT"! she yells. But he doesn't listen. He goes outside and goes to his truck. Holly runs out the front door and attempts to stop him. "Holly, I'll be fine just please go back inside". "WHY, w-why are you doing this"!? she says tearing up and almost upset. "I have to do this". Hunhow goes to leave but he then sees Holly crying and in a state of despair. He stops cold realizing what he has done and goes to comfort her. He tells her he will be safe and that she doesn't need to worry about him. She is sad to see him go but he reassures her he will be back. Afterwards, he gets in his truck and drives away while she watches.

~ Time Skip ~ One Hour ~

Hunhow drives to the city hall building. After a while he finds the mayor and her private security. He steps outside his vehicle and goes to her private car. He enters and she shares information regarding a warehouse. The warehouse is being used by a violent criminal group. She explains the NYPD have been trying to gain undercover access but need assistance. Her plan is to have him wear a hidden camera and pose as a recruit for the warehouse. He goes in, infiltrates, gets information and sends it back to her so she can inform the NYPD on who runs the operation and is responsible. Hunhow is hesitant and not onboard with the offer. He expected this to be a simple contract job. But he feels the mayor has taken his services too far for her own personal gain. The mayor tries to calm his fears. She reassures him he will go under a different name, background, as well as story. He doesn't feel now is the time to go through. So he tells the mayor he'll think about it. But his decision will be the final word. He exit's the car and goes back to his truck and drives away. He is angry. He is beginning to no longer trust the mayor. He begins to believe she is using him to do her dirty work and tie up her loose ends. Hunhow suspects if there is more to the truth than what the mayor is telling him. He drives back home and decides to do some digging in the morning.

~ Time Skip ~ Hour Later ~

Hunhow gets back home and goes inside the front door. He apologizes to Holly for leaving her. She however is too upset with him. They end up fighting for what seemed like forever about his lawlessness and she tells him that he is spiraling out of control. He defends his actions. "What's wrong with you"?! "Do have a death wish"?! she yells. "I stare death down, I don't fear it"! he yells back. "Did you really think I wanted to become what I am now"?! "To lose my real mother and father, my uncle, my old girlfriend, my old life"?! "Do you really think I am proud of what I've done"?! "Why do you have to be so uncaring?! he shouts "UNCARING"?! Holly shouts. "You are the most selfish, arrogan-"! "Yes, I'm happy you think I'm arrogant"!! "Maybe that's because you are the reason I am"!! he shouts at her. Holly becomes agitated. "I'm the reason, your arrogant"?! she said. "You know I'm not a hero, but there are people and Anthros who believe in me". "People I cannot let down". "You've done your job"! "You've done all you can"!! "It's over"! she yells. "It's NEVER over"!! He yells. "Then so be it"!! she yells. Holly grabs her stuff such as her phone, purse and personal items and goes to the front door. "Where are you going"?! Hunhow yells. "You know what, Hunhow"?! "I'm sorry I've ever known you"!! "I just don't know who the fuck you are anymore"!! she yells. After saying her final words, she leaves slamming the door behind her. Hunhow watches as she leaves. He is shocked. He just lost Holly someone who he not only cares about but loves. Hunhow sits in shock after realizing what has happened. He goes to his phone to call her. But she never answers his calls or texts. He sits down and face palms himself. He begins to cry at the thought of loosing Holly. He blames himself and everything he has done. He goes upstairs to his bedroom and lays down in his bed. He Crys himself to sleep.

~ Time Skip ~ Next Morning ~

Hunhow wakes up the next morning still in tears. He continues to blame himself for loosing Holly after their argument. He begins to believe that she as well as the city is better off without him. He grabs his Glock 30 and loads it. He sticks it in his mouth, preparing to blow out the back of his head. But no matter what he does or how hard he tries to pull the trigger, he just can't do it. He sits in the corner of the room not moving and barley blinking for hours. His phone suddenly buzzes and he checks to see its a call from Mayor Looma. Hunhow grabs his phone and answers her. He tells her that he will never work for her or do anything for her again. He tells her to never text or call him again before deleting her phone number and contact information. He sits there in the corner quiet and grimm. Hunhow then notices a guitar near his doorway. He realizes it's Holly's guitar. She and him would play and sing together almost like him and Crystal. He slowly stands up and grabs the guitar. He slowly begins to play. He plays a few notes and songs without singing. The energy almost isn't the same but the music is what keeps him alive. He spends the day playing the guitar. And sitting while in regret of what has happened for far to long.....
