Chapter 34: Embracing The Truth

News of the gang murders quickly and rapidly spread throughout the city of NY. And popularity among Hunhow starts to rise once more. He chooses not to become involved in the whole media speculations. And for the most part doesn't care what anyone or others think. He is busy sitting in his truck when he gets a text from Mayor Looma. He reads the text and it basically is just a congratulations on a job well done. He doesn't respond however and just deletes the message. He doesn't care what others think about him. He doesn't want to be hailed as a hero. "If there are any heroes to be hailed, it should be first responders and our military" he says to himself. He turns off his phone before starting up his truck and going to head off to home.

~ Time Skip ~ Hunhow Arrives Home ~

Hunhow makes it home but someone is waiting for him. It's none other than Holly and Samantha. Hunhow then realizes he promised to take Samantha to the militia compound and teach her how to use a firearm and better self defense. He greets them both after getting out of his truck and quickly goes to grab his tactical vest and Russian AK 15 Rifle as well as 5 additional rounds of ammunition. Afterwards he comes back out and together He, Holly and Samantha drive to the compound. After what felt like an hour and half but was actually just 45-54 minutes they arrived at the compound. Luckily the storage unit where they keep all their armor, weapons, ammunition and tactical gear was locked up tight. Hunhow and Holly retrieve some gear for Samantha and then start to show her basic training.

~ Hunhow's Furry National Guard Tactical Clothing ~

Hunhow changes out of his Punisher thin blue line vest and switches on his Furry National Guard one. After that he and Holly decide to teach Samantha the basics of hand to hand self defense. He easily shows her the many mistakes she made during the fight with the 2 Mountain lions. He also teaches her how to properly hold her arms and hands up while fighting. "You rely too much on your claws and teeth". "If you fight like that, those will prove to be useless in a fight with taller and stronger Anthros" he says. He teaches her how to dodge and not to use her dominant arm and hand the entire fight. He shows her skillful and body slams techniques. Eventually after a while she gets the hang of it and in the process ends up knocking Hunhow into the mud. Eventually they stop and move onto shooting and firearms training. He shows and supervises her on how to properly load, arm, shoot, reload and use different types of guns. He first starts out with a small caliber revolver. But it then shifts to semi-automatic rifles and snipers. Finally he trusted her to shoot a full automatic assault rifle. The recoil is hard for her to control but after reloading and trying on her third mag, she successfully makes use of the rifle. After training is over, Hunhow goes to put all the guns, ammunition and target gear away. But before leaving finds a box of unopened tactical head set and a black tactical helmet. He used to play call of duty: modern warfare so he recognized the helmet and headset as part of the Shadow Company characters. He decides to take the helmet and headset before locking up all the gear in the storage units. He, Holly and Samantha all hop into his truck and he then drives them back to Holly's house.

~ Time Skip ~ Hour And Half Later ~

Hunhow arrives at Holly's house and she hands the keys to Samantha. Samantha gets out and goes to the front door after holly tells her she'll be there soon. She then looks back to Hunhow who asked if she wanted to talk about something. "So, I-I umm..." "I was wondering if you wanted to stay over"? she asked him. "Umm, maybe tomorrow or some other time" he says. "Ugh, is that the excuse you're always going to pull" she said annoyed. "Hey, I'm not saying I don't, I've just got important stuff" he said. "You know I can tell you're lying and bullshitting, right". "You just don't want to do it cuz you're nervous". Hunhow is taken aback by the statement. Holly is staring at him with lustful and seductive eyes. "Umm, you're in heat, right"? "I'm surprised you could tell". "But I don't like it when you avoid me" she said. "When you're free, just hit me up and I'll be waiting". "But just remember, lying to me is like digging your own grave". Those last words made Hunhow a little unnerved. They almost sounded like a threat. Holly got out of the truck still dressed in some of her tactical gear except for her vest and M4 rifle. As she walks to her front door, her hips sway and it kinda catches Hunhow's attention. She however seemed to know because she called out to him when she was 20 meters away from the truck. "I know you're staring" she said looking out the corner of her eye. "Crap" Hunhow says in his head as he quickly turns away. After that awkward incident, he pulls off in his truck. But he cannot hide the truth. He cannot shake it out his head. He has to embrace the truth. His feelings for Holly are not the same as before. He sees her more than just a friend. He sees her as someone he actually likes. He decides he cannot lie to her and play it off. He wants to move forward and maybe be there for her more. "I'll try to find a way to make her happy" he said to himself. He arrives home and goes through his daily winding down after a long day session. He watches TV and then goes upstairs to sleep....
