The truth of the matter was that trying to find anything on these things was damn near impossible. For one no one had a clue what they were even called let alone where to start looking for information. So the group took to the library. Hermione, Harry, Sloane, Joanna, Narcissa, and Draco were in the restricted section within the hour. They basically took a shelf each and took off every book, going through them one by one to try and find something.

Blaise was working with the forensic sketch artist to give another detailed drawing of the statue things and the new torso they had as a guard dog. They could look at the menu but having something on hand was much quicker. Ginny was busy with Flitwick. They had managed to find chalk boards in a storage room within the castle and had levitated them to the Transfiguration Office, and Luna was filling in the boards with everything they had so far. Ron had taken himself off again to bed. Sloane knew that he was agitated and feeling a bit like he was spiralling, but Luna assured them that she helped him into her bed and not his own so he was pretty safe. Besides, he couldn't get drunk off elf wine, so there was no fear of him drinking.

So the gang worked all day, not having much luck and getting very frustrated in the process. Molly, Fleur, Mrs Zabini, several teachers and even quite a few house elves joined the research group. Starting on the other side of the room, and working there way to the middle. They had started at maybe 11.30am and it was now well after 5pm but they still didn't have much. When Blaise arrived to help them was when they finally had a eureka moment.

"Has this pile been looked at?" He asked Draco who was sitting cross legged on the desk next to them in the transfiguration office.

"No I haven't got that far yet. That is my next pile." Draco said glancing up and then turning the page of his current book, which was roughly the length of his legs.

"I will help you with this pile Blaise. I finished mine," Sloane said as Blaise picked up have the stack.

"I will do Banshee's to Fantastic Beasts the demon guide." Blaise said. "You can read Gargoyles to -"

"Wait what did you say?" Sloane asked.

"Gargoyles. I'm not sure what a gargoyle is really, but the illustration on the spine looks creepy. Kind of like -"

"A statue?" Sloane asked lifting the book.

"Yeah kind of, actually. I don't know who would have one of -" Ginny smacked the back of his head. "Ouch! What, the gargoyle does look like a statue. And what?" Ginny smacked him again.

"Get there faster!" Sloane said holding up the book.

Blaise's eyes widened. "Like those bastards downstairs!"

Sloane rolled her eyes and propped herself up next to Draco, who abandoned his own book and pulled Sloane onto his knees. "Gargoyles," he read. "Gargoyle is derived from the French 'gargouille', meaning throat. Usually taking the form of a twisted face or an animal hybrid, these ominous stone icons are referred to in Wizard Greek mythology as 'chimera' although this is often confused with the Fantastic beast Chimaera."

"Oh I love a Chimaera!" Luna smiled.

Draco read on. "Inspired by the architectural element, gargoyles are stone-like supernatural creatures by day and at night, they shed and come to life. As the sun rises, they go back to their posts to serve as stone guardians that adorn cathedrals and churches and castles. Gargoyles have six powers and abilities: immortality (invulnerable to the passing of time and to diseases), human form (shape shift to human-like beings), flight (posses wings), camouflage (blend with the inanimate grotesques to surprise intruders), endurance (cannot be wounded at night), and petrification (turns other beings into stone by touch if it desires). Despite their strengths, gargoyles' weaknesses include: proximity (cannot fly too far from their posts), and sunlight (turn into stone when exposed to the sun's rays)."
