'I....love...you.'
Draco froze, his whole body seeming to go into shock as he dropped his wand out of his hand. There were lots of people around him and yet, he couldn't hear them. He could see their lips moving. He could see Harry in front of him grabbing his arms and shaking him but he couldn't move. It's like he was watching a movie through his own eyes. He couldn't do anything to talk to those in front of him. Only watch them.
But he could hear someone gasping, struggling for air. Struggling to breathe. Like being suffocated. And if he was feeling it, he knew full well who it was.
'Sloane?' He called out, panic rising in his voice, his whole body shaking in fear. This was not happening. This could NOT be happening.
'I....love...you.'
Then nothing. No gasping, no struggling, no talking. Complete and utter silence.
'Sloane?' Draco called out now as his face contorted in pain. 'Sloane?!' He was internally screaming as he fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. All he could do was close his eyes, hoping he was having a dream. He squeezed them tightly.
So tight, that when he opened them he was no longer in the security room on the main floor of the castle. He was now in a dark room. A dark room with other people around. Draco blinked a few times to understand what was happening and stood up, scuffling to his feet. And yet no one even noticed he was there. Theo and Hermione were hanging by their wrists on chains. And the bastard had Sloane pinned against the wall squeezing her neck. Draco ran towards them his hands out ready to pull at the thing strangling his girlfriend but he couldn't get close. It was as if an invisible wall was holding him back. He could see them but the clearly couldn't see him.
Once again he was watching the scene unfold and not able to do a thing about it. "Sloane!" He called out but no one flinched. "Fuck! No!" He screamed as she closed her eyes. Her arms dripping to her sides.
And as if she were nothing that all, Euan dropped her to the floor. He laughed as he bent down and ran a stone hand across her face, leaving marks where his rough stone texture tore into her skin. His laugh got louder as he simply stood up and walked out of the room, Theo screaming and Hermione wailing, but falling to the ground as he dropped their chains. Draco could only watch as his girlfriend, soulmate and love, lay in a heap in front of him. The colour draining from her face but the marks on her neck, already beginning to bruise.
He put his head in his hands, allowing himself to cry. To ball his eyes out. To wail. Crying for the future they could have had. The family they talked about and the adventures they said they were going to take. With their powers they could have helped a lot of people. And now...now there was just him and he wasn't sure how he was going to go on.

Hermione couldn't take her eyes off the poor girl who lay in a crumbled heap on the floor. As soon as Hermione was released and her body dropped to the floor she threw herself across the room, turning Sloane over so she was in her arms, her head on Hermione's lap. Theo was by her side.
"Hermione....is...I mean....is Sloane...."
"You're not getting rid of me that quickly Theo," Sloane gave a splutter and then a coughing fit ensued. Draco, Hermione and Theo's heads snapped up to look at the girl. She had one eye open and her hand was rubbing her neck.
"You're ok," Hermione cried out joyously and bent down to hug the girl, kissing her forehead. She then helped Sloane slowly sit up to gather her bearings.
She didn't get time to however as Theo pulled her onto his knee and into a hug. "I have never been so fucking scared! Don't do that shit again. I thought you fucking died."
