I put the phone back on the jack and thought about it for a second. Should I go outside and see who called? Should I abide by his request to go out alone? Obviously this guy knows me but I've never heard his voice before. I felt someone walk up behind me and put their hand on my shoulder. I jumped in surprise and I saw Logan's eyes laced with worry.
"Who was it?"
I stood there silently.
"Noah, are you ok?" Gemma asked from behind him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It was just some creep asking for money."
"I don't believe you for a second. He asked for you specifically."
"Noah, who was it?" Logan asked sternly, walking up behind me and turning me around to face him.
"I don't know, he didn't tell me his name. He just said that he was here and that if I wanted to find out who he was then I would have to go outside. But he said to go alone and then he just hung up."
Everyone was silent for a couple minutes before Gemma finally spoke up. "Are you going to go?"
"Like hell she is!" Logan exclaimed.
All of a sudden, the phone rang again. I was closest to it so I reached out and answered the call.
"I'm still waiting Noah," the strange man said. As quickly as the conversation was started, he ended it with a small click.
"Can we please just go outside and, I don't know call his bluff I guess?" I asked Logan. "You can come with me like I don't care."
"Fine. But if you see him, or anyone for that matter tell me."
We walked out of the kitchen and headed towards the front door. I grabbed my cell phone off the island just in case I had to call the police. We walked out the front door and stood on the porch, waiting for something-anything- to happen. Logan threw his arm protectively around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him. I snuggled deeper into his side and we both looked around the front of the property. I looked between the trees of the forest as far as my eyes would carry my sight and didn't see anyone. We stood there a bit longer just scanning over the front yard and Logan finally loosened his grip on my arm.
"There's no one here," he said quietly.
"Thanks captain obvious," I muttered.
"You're welcome sergeant sarcasm."
"Can we just go inside now?"
"Yeah, that way we can finish what we started."
"Sounds like a good plan to me."
I giggled as he started to lead me inside. I felt my phone start to vibrate in my back pocket and seconds later, my ringtone started blaring out of my butt. I reached down and grabbed my phone thinking it might have been Sarah.
"Hello?" I giggled, still thinking about what Logan said.
"Noah, Noah," the voice said through the phone. I started to freak out a bit because of his stern tone of voice. "I told you to come out alone."
"I would never, not with creeps like you around."
"How do you know I'm a creep?"
"Well you're claiming that you can see me and are standing on my property and won't tell me who the hell you are. Listen, I don't even know how you know who I am, but if you're not willing to just come up to the front door and talk to me directly then leave me alone."
"Oh, but I haven't started yet."
"Then don't bother wasting your time." I hung up and saw that Logan was looking down at me. "What?"
