Of course, Lisbeth will suggest adding music during the stage play. She loves adding symbolic background music as the play continues on to the next plot. It also serves as a tool to fill up a hole in the plot. Unfortunately, Lisbeth and I had some kind of disagreement on the song we each wanted to use for the plot. She wanted a slow song to test the chemistry of the character, but I wanted an upbeat song to match with the characters' vibe to each other. As a result, we both turned to Declan, who was the one who originally created the story. Surely, he had some idea what song he wanted to play during this part of the story he had created.
"Declan, I'm sure you agree with me that the song should be upbeat to match up with your characters' vibe to each other." I quickly gazed at Lisbeth who only playfully scoffed at my idea. "Since both characters seem to have the same music taste, it's only understandable that they play upbeat music that matches both of their taste in music." On the corner of my eyes, I can see Gail giving me a thumbs-up while carrying a sweet smile on her face. That might be enough for me to see that she supports my idea, which, in result, I flash back a smile to her.
A chain of tsk followed after I spoke up. Lisbeth came out beside me while tsking and shaking her head as she sauntered forward in front of Declan. Who apparently looks more amused than conflicted by this problem. He must be enjoying this kind of argument, since he's doing his best not to smile like an idiot while pretending to be deep in thought. "Look, I agree with Vy here. With upbeat music, it can show the similar vibe of each characters." She places a hand on my shoulder as if to guide a little toddler out of a way to a grown-up conversation. "But I think it's more impactful if the song is slow, that really shows the chemistry that is bubbling between the characters. It gives this kind of slow tension between the two."
"We don't need more tension. We had plenty when the two characters exchanged some letters to each other." I shake my head while my lips fall into a flat line. "With the right music, it'll give the audience a feel of having someone with the same music taste. It'll let me be even more connected to the characters."
I watch as both Lisbeth and Declan nod their heads in approval. I was about to mentally punch the air with the pride I'm about to feel when both of them finally agreed with my ideas. However, it appears to me that Lisbeth had other ideas, as well as other counter-arguments. "That's right, but wouldn't it be better if we play something slow yet emotional at the same time? That would also let the audience connect even more with the characters if we reflect the emotions of them through the music." She abruptly glances away from me and back to Declan. "Wouldn't you agree with that, Declan? It appears that your way of writing focuses more on the emotional personality of the characters than just their mental or psychical personality."
For a while, Declan looks even more deep in thought, but this time the amusement in his eyes is gone. I can only see another hint of that sadness he's carrying. I wonder if this will be the day he's ready to share some of that burden out of his system.
My mind was about to make me say something to him to convince him to lean on my side, but Lisbeth held her eyes to mine. She flashed me a small smile for a moment before muttering out the words I did not expect her to give to me. "With the right music, you either forget everything that has happened or you remember everything." Okay, that felt personal. Way too personal. A quick glance at Gail seems to tell me everything about how personal that was. Since she was the one who flashes me a weak yet sincere smile. "Isn't that right, Declan? Since this is Declan's story, I have a feeling he wants to cherish the memories and remember everything, then just forget the true connection of the characters."
Another thing that surprises me is that Gail stepped forward with her hands clasped together in front of her. "It also feels like Declan wants his audience to remember what he remembers about the story he crested." She stepped forward enough that our shoulders touched each other. The spark I felt when her shoulder touched mine was strong that I had to hide away the flinch I just made. "I agree with Lisbeth here, Vy. The right music would definitely help the audience remember the things that they don't even know they could remember."
