"Are you sure you'll be alright on your own?" Ethan asks Lisbeth before she could walk away from his car. "I'm offering you a ride back to the theater."
She waves her hands in the air, dismissing her twin brother's offer. "I'll be fine, Ethan. I can take care of myself." She made a shooing gesture with both of her hands. "You two should go back to the office."
Ethan turns his head to examine me. I immediately know what he's thinking about, and I desperately want to stop him from coming to a conclusion. I flash him my best puppy-eyes, to convince him not to take me back to my apartment. "Actually... One of us is still on vacation, so I'll just drive Vy back to his apartment."
Dammit! The puppy-eyes didn't work. Lisbeth's mouth gapes open at what Ethan had said, "Oh, then it's best to send Vy home instead of driving him back to the office."
I can't believe I'll be double-teamed by these twins. "Don't worry, Vy, I'll drive your car back to your apartment after work."
Holy shit, he's serious about driving me back home. Here I thought he's just joking about it, but no, he's already planning on sending my car back to my apartment after work. "No, don't you dare send me back home, Ethan."
"Oh, I'll seriously take that dare..." He opens the passenger seat car door and gestures his hand to me to get in. "Now, get in the car."
"I can't believe you're doing this to me." Crossing my arms over my shoulder as I narrow my eyes at him. "I'm not going to get in your car unless you reassure me you won't drive me back home."
Ethan releases an impatient sigh, "Why must you be difficult? You're on vacation, Vy, you shouldn't be in the office. You should be relaxing in the comfort of your home."
"I don't want to go back home, I have nothing else to do there. What else should I do for the rest of the day, huh?"
He pinches the bridge of his nose before answering my question. "I don't know? Sleep for the whole day? Fucking hibernate until your vacation days are over." That prompts Lisbeth to fall into a pool of laughter. I would have laughed too if it wasn't my frowning expression.
"Do I look like a goddamn bear to you? Plus, it's not even winter yet. Why the hell am I going to partake in the practice of hibernation?" A couple of people glanced in our direction, but I'm too annoyed to care about their thoughts about this scene on the sidewalk.
Ethan takes a deep intake of breath for an entire minute. I can imagine the gears in his brain overheating from frustration. "Why must you act like a child?" He mutters under his breath as he pinches the bridge of his nose again. With that comment, I can't help but to grin at him.
"You better get used to it, so that in the future you won't have any problems with your children." Lisbeth crosses her arms over her chest with an amused look on her face.
Ethan gazes up to the heavens as if he's praying for some sanity. "I'll never be going to have any children," He mutters under his breath, but unfortunately for him, I've heard it. A deep snicker arose from my throat, and he immediately threw daggers in my direction. "Get in the fucking car!"
"You won't drive me back home?" I quietly ask, since I don't want him to get angrier at me. Even though I like to tease, I still know when I should stop before crossing the line.
One last frustrated sigh escapes Ethan as his gaze bore on to me. "No, we'll drive back to the office."
Victory is mine! I saunter my way inside the passenger's seat with a wide grin. Once I sat down, I immediately realized this might be a trap for me to just get in the car. "Wait a minute, is this a tra—"
