CHAPTER TWENTY NINE:

Senjuro Rengoku had to stay back due to extracurricular activities, thus leaving (Y/N) and Kyojuro alone in the car.

Even when Kyojuro insisted, Senjuro did not want to trouble his older brother. Plus, Senjuro thought that they needed some alone time together.

If he could erase that scenario in his head, he would. It was unintentional, but Senjuro may or may not have eavesdropped.

And saying that he was highly disappointed was the biggest understatement of the century.

"I Lo- Care about you, goddamnit!"

Kyojuro and (Y/N) sat at the front of the car, the wave of silence becoming increasingly awkward as time passes.

While (Y/N) didn't think much of it, Kyojuro's mind was a spiraling mess. He thought about what he said earlier, and immediately regretted it.

"I Lo- Care about you, goddamnit!"

It wasn't because he said such absurd thing- It was because he didn't make himself clear.

He cares about her, more than she'll ever know. (Y/N) kept his heart burning with utter admiration and devotion, and she wasn't even aware of it.

Something about her draws him like a lost magnet, it's as if she was perfectly crafted just for him.

He was ravenous for her, obviously.

Kyojuro wanted to speak up. But he could tell from the nervous side glances that (Y/N) kept giving him, she was just as frazzled from the recent scenario.

Pushing away the horrid thoughts that ran though his head, Kyojuro mustered up the courage to speak.
His soft voice wafted through the air as he called out her name like a whisper.

"Do you have anything planned for dinner? You can come eat with us if- If you want." Kyojuro cursed under his breath for stuttering, but what's done is done.

It took a moment for (Y/N) to answer, but when she did, Kyojuro felt a little disheartened.

She waves a hand at him dismissively, a small comforting smile plastered on her lips as she replies, "It's fine, Rengoku-Sensei. I'm making food for myself, I don't want to bother much."

"I can help you out."

The words left Kyojuro's lips before he could even comprehend them, his eyes growing wide at the realization.

He wasn't meant to ask such a question, not after the fiasco they had inside the classroom.

But there was a small part of him, the more greedier part of him that wanted her to say yes.

The Gods must be celebrating this evening, because he got the answer he was looking for.

"Actually, I'd like that. If your not too busy, Rengoku-Sensei." She fiddled with the hem of her shirt to calm down her jittery nerves.

After rewinding the scenario over and over in her head, (Y/N) finally understood what Kyojuro meant.

In a way- She knows that he cares about her, but there was a more deeper mystery in his words.

She wanted to say that he may or may not be in love with her, but that sounds too farfetched.

Or is it?

A soft smile tilted up Kyojuro's lips, golden eyes gazing at the radiant girl that sat beside him. "We'll make a stop to the convenience store then. I want to cook something."

"O-Oh-! Rengoku-Sensei, that's not necessary. I have s-"

"I insist! And it's Kyojuro to you, Sunshine. Don't ever forget." Kyojuro beamed like a sparkling flame, glittering with an attractive beauty that draws people towards him.

(Y/N) on the other hand, stared at him wide eyed and in shock.

It took a moment for her brain to register his words, cheeks slowly tinting red as the word Sunshine chants inside her head.

It was like a playful taunt, a ringing she couldn't forget. Kyojuro acted as if he didn't just give her a nickname, and a cute one at that.

"I-I... Huh..?"

Kyojuro kept his eyes on the road, gradually focusing as he hums to the melody that was being played in the radio.

(Y/N) sat beside him in silence, face flushed red from embarrassment as she shakes away the inconspicuous thoughts that ran wild inside her head.

-

Kyojuro placed the last grocery bag on the table, a small sigh in satisfaction escaping his lips.

He insisted for (Y/N) to take a shower first before they start cooking, and while he was alone, he started to fill the refrigerator to the brim.

He also made a mental note for himself, noticing the pack of (Favourite Chips) that (Y/N) had in store. Kyojuro wanted to bring her some the next time he visits.

After a while, Kyojuro heard the soft pitter patter of (Y/N)'s footsteps down the stairs.

Her silhouette slowly became clearer, and Kyojuro couldn't help but admire the sight in front of him.

"Kyojuro, I'm done."

Dressed casually in a plain tee and some comfortable shorts, (Y/N) looked like the epitome of softness.

And Kyojuro merely wanted one thing, to hug the heck out of her.

Kyojuro stood in the kitchen, with his sleeves rolled up and a few buttons loose on his collar.

Hair frazzled and eyes heavy from the lack of rest, yet he never looked more endearing.

Kyojuro didn't bother going back at his place to get a change of clothing, as he was to preoccupied with the thought of spending the evening with (Y/N).

This was something that (Y/N) noticed almost immediately, as she couldn't help but ask him, "Kyojuro, are you feeling alright? You can take a shower too, if you want." She then offered him.

Feeling adamant to wash the day away, Kyojuro nodded his head. "I could use one. I have an emergency tee in the car- Would you be fine with waiting?"

"It's fine! I'll just put the groceries back- Oh wait, who put these back?"

Before (Y/N) was able to ask Kyojuro if he was the one who put them back, the man was already off sprinting towards his car.

"I'll be back!"
